Rowpro for Mac

Hi i was wondering if anyone has download Rowpro on there Mac and if so is it do all the functions work with it. I'm keen on getting it just want to no if it will be worth the hustle..... Thanks

There is no native version of RP for mac. So you would have to use windows, either in bootcamp or parallels 4, 5, or 6. I have used RP in bootcamp (on an intel mac) and it worked just fine.

It's worth the hassle.

Try the Demo version. RowPro is so good I bought a PC to run it and a new Graphics card, it's dedicated to RowPro and there is nothing else on it so it boots very fast.

That's probably the better way to go. I went the Mac route and there were a number of problems. Most of them were solved but I still can't open archived results without going through a procedure that is beyond my limited computer skills. Peter told me that new version is due out soon that will use a different system and won't have that problem, so I will wait for that.

So when is a native version of RowPro for Mac going to be released. I am sick, sick, sick of waiting. There seems to be a lot of interest by the number of people viewing this post. I refuse to buy a dedicated pc for this purpose and would like to use RowPro!

Hopefully Concept2 will buy this company and integrate the software into the Model F using an iPad/iphone/ipod touch as the PM - One can dream but how cool would that be - everything in one nice neat package - logbook, rowpro app, pm, music, video, internet.

This would also enable online coaching/rowing classes via skype videoconferencing and make upgrading of all software really easy and reliable. You could also listen to music using bluetooth headset (no more wires).

I think you'll find that the end of the universe is scheduled to happen before RowPro rewrite their code to remove their dependency on MIcrsoft's .NET and C# stuff

Already suggested this to Pete at RowPro a year ago. It's the obvious evolution to be able to eventually join in a race with a wireless connection from the monitor to your phone that has internet access and is running the RowPro App. You would not even have to own an Erg, you could use the one at your Gym or Rowing Club and still race online.

Also there has not been a newer version release of RowPro for over a year and I can tell you Pete is working on some new stuff so stay tuned.

I would like to try RP, but it won't work with a PM2+ and Parallels.
I have Parallels 5.0, Windows XP Pro and a Keyspan USB-serial connector.

I'm just reading about RowPro for the first time per suggestion of a recent post I made concerning a bug with my PM3.

Anyway, found my way to the RowPro website, and very quickly became keenly interested in this software. Tried to download a trial copy and learned that one is not available for Mac. Major Bummer!!! I have a Macbook Air and an iMac. The iMac is married to the desk in my den and the Air is just too small (it has a small flash drive instead of a physical hard drive) to install parallels or the boot manager in order to run PC software. So it looks like RowPro is not in cards for me.

Too bad its written in code (.net and C#) marrying it to a PC platform only. Cant afford to buy a PC strictly for one application, nor do I want to have a MS product.

Just adding my vote for a Mac version of RowPro, as unlikely as it sounds that it will not be available on a Mac.

Really ? I found a PC capable of running it thrown out in the street for free ! It doesn't need processor grunt, a old Pentium 4 single core will eat it, what it does need is a decent PCI-E graphics card if you want the fastest frame rates your monitor will support like 60 to 75Hz in the highest quality mode.I have to admit it helps to know about computer hardware and I formatted and rebuit a PC just dedicated RowPro and thats all it does. The graphics card cost NZ$150 and it will be interesting to see if it will cope with the next version.

The fact it doesn't run on a Mac has already been realised as a problem a while ago. V4 is getting some new graphics and hopefully alot of the upgrades that have been sugested and it will run on a Mac. As the current version works very well on a PC, I'm not in any particular hurry to upgrade but it will not be that far away. The weaknesses are minor like no on screen live spm of other rowers and even heartrate would be good (but probably not popular to have up so it would need to be an option)

Hmmm.... thats an idea. My step-daughter recently upgraded from an old gateway laptop to a new netbook. I'll have to get that old laptop from her and try the trial version of RowPro on it. Hopefully it work without having to put in a graphics card.

Glad to learn the next version (V4) will possibly run on a Mac... I'll be watching for it. Is there a target release date?

I'm new to this and the RowPro software sounds pretty cool... really looking forward to trying it out.

The frame rates will be nasty on an old laptop but you will get the idea of how it all works and if it's for you or not.

The big feature is the live online rowing with others, couldn't row without it these days, it's just to boring.

Join the RowPro Team and throw in the odd Challange each year and it keeps you very motivated.
