Muscle Groups used if hands palms up?

I'm training for a Tough Mudder challenge. I've got a LONG way to go. :^)
I was wondering if different muscle groups would be worked if I rowed palms up? Years ago when I swam competitively I could do pull ups all day long with my hands one way and barely any with them the other way on the bar. Pull ups vs. Chin ups? If I'm remembering correctly, swimming worked mainly the Triceps and one type of pull up took benefit from those muscles while hands the other way around relied more on Biceps which I've never had. So that makes me wonder if palms up while rowing would work an alternate muscle group than palms down rowing.
