Dyno Strength Trainer
Are there people who are still consistently using or have used the Dyno as an alternative to traditional weight training? If so can you elaborate on its effectiveness in terms of strength and conditioning? Would a used Dyno be worth investing in?

I bought a new DYNO in 2006 and have used it consistently and injury free since then. It is next to my Model D Rower and they compliment each other very well. I've never understood why it didn't catch on and I hope its demise is temporary while its updated.
The three movements are the bedrock of strength fitness (seated bench, leg press, seated row) and their application to both rowing and strength development are self-evident. I'm 60, 6-1, 215# 12.5% body fat and it's the only strength training I do but for some dumbell curls. I also have competitive rowing times.
It's a "power" machine, not just a strength machine, meaning each "lift" requires concentration and power for a high reading and there's no temptatin to "cheat" and risk injury as it doesn't work. I've done free weights and every machine imaginable over many years of fitness activity. It's the best for relevant strength and power without injury. But get one assembled, as it is a bear to put together!

The Dyno Machine
That's exactly what most people are missing about training for a particular event. The dyno gives the person using it the best combination of exercises to improve their performance in rowing. Many folks believe that working out with a long list of assorted exercises will improve their performance, but that couldn't be further from the truth. If anything performing more than the few exercises that can be done on the Dyno is a waste of time. At least for rowing. Nothing can beat doing a short, demanding routine of the basics. And only doing it, at most, twice a week.
