Anyone having ankel pains?

Post by Hanzo » April 1st, 2015, 3:43 am

After I started rowing pretty much exclusively as my exersize, I have been having the odd ankelpain. Not bad at all, and never related to rowing. I might be getting it during the day, or when I walk my son to school. Never even close to a issue, just a tiny amount of discomfort that will disaperar again during the night, and I never payed much attention to it. It's almost always on my left ankel. But last sunday when I woke up, my right ankel was very painfull, to the point where it was really hard and painfull to walk on it, and it caused me to walk with a limp all day. I did some walking, and at the end of the day it was really painfull even when I was just resting my foot. I had a full day of rest the day before, so this was aleast a day since my last rowing session. The pain quickly went away, and I was back to rowing again on thursday. It's now been a week and a half since, and I have been rowing a few times. Problem is, the ankel is now slightly painfull, and rowing does seem to worsen things. I did a couple of sessions on a elliptical trainer my wife uses, and I'm getting no discomfort from that.

It's alot better, not really painfull but more a discomfort that reminds me that my ankel is not 100%. I'm not really sure if this comes from rowing or could be caused by other things, but currently rowing is my only exersize aside from a fair amount of walk to and from stuff. Does anyone else have any experience with ankel issues with rowing? I'm worried I might have to take a couple of weeks of from rowing, something I dont really want as I'm trying hard to improve, but I completely ruined my achiles heels on not listening to my body trying to tell me something was wrong when I was running, and dont much want to repeat that.

Attached a photo of where my pain/discomfort is located.

I actually saw that video earlier today, I know I'm opening up to quick but I did not expect that to have anything with my ankels. I'm wondering if me moving to far forward and making my legs go beyond 90 degree is causing some of this. I also think I press to much with the ball of the foot and not the heels, so that might add to it as well. Guess I will try some legs only drills then, I'm sure to have several benefits from that.

Hanzo, please check my previous post. Had wrong URL in buffer or failed to jump thru all the hoops. Jack
