Hi all,
I am curious about the CP-1. Who uses it, what are the benefits of use, and is it more of a piece of equipment for "mega - serious" users (which I am not.) I am enjoying my erg and would like to get the most out of the workouts.
Thanks

I'm not sure that one must be "mega-serious" to enjoy the benefits of the CP-1, but can say that it adds a whole new dimension to your Erg sessions. Your core will never be the same.

We tend to use it alternating between Fixed (Fx) and Moving (Mv) modes in a ratio of about 2 to 1 by distance, seems to work quite well.

Paul,
Just had the cp-1 put on. (Thanks for the Swing Slings, by the way) Wow, I can't stay on! My question is, should I row strapless with the cp-1? I learned to row strapless (regular rowing) from the beginning so there wasn't an option to learn strapped. But with the cp-1, it is much harder (only the first night.) Should I just endure strapless until I "get it", or should I use the straps?
Thanks for listening

As you have noted, it is much more difficult strapless, as an early aide you might want to use straps to help with becoming more comfortable with the CP1 in Mv Mode, then as you feel increasingly comfortable, loosen them a bit, then a bit more and finally no more need for them.

Alternate short bits in Mv mode with longer stretches in Fx mode as you are getting used to the seat, and always make sure to find a good centered position on the seat, which is not all that easy since it doesn't allow for much movement once seated, but if you feel like you are having to put a lot of weight on one side just to stay level you may need to adjust yourself slightly to that side on the seat and then continue.
