Half and Full Marathons in the Bag for April!

Post by ckaiserca » April 23rd, 2008, 3:28 pm

So April's Global Marathon Challenge is in the bag for me.

Just finished rowing my second full marathon ever. It was done in a pitiful time as I was just trying to make the distance and wasn't concerned about the speed. Did a warm-up half marathon on the 18th, and it was pretty slow too :?

But now I am only 17425 meters from meeting my 3,000,000 meter goal for this season! Looks like I will meet all of my season goals except for the weight. I'm probably going to be about 10 pounds shy of my goal, but anything is better than where I started!

Hey Charles!

Well done on your goals. Its been a good first year for you. I still think anyone who does a FM or even further needs their head read!
I noticed that the weight loss wasn't linear. I'd lose maybe 10lbs and then plateau, then same again. Sometimes I'd go a week or more with no real loss. It was disheartening at first but it always started again.
Good luck for next year!

Charles:

Excellent job to get both a HM and a FM done during the marathon challenge. Slow doesn't matter, it's in the bank! That was my plan too: a HM early, then a FM later. Didn't happen. All I managed was a couple of preparatory hour rows (albeit, the second, yesterday, a PB). Going out of town Sunday, so Saturday is my last chance for a HM (unless the hotel has a machine ? . . . ).

And 3 MM is great for your first year.

Nice job Charles,

I just did my HM yesterday morning. I too wasn't concerned about my time, I was rowing for heart rate not speed. Roughly 10,000 meters I did in the UT2 zone, and roughly 10,000 in the UT1 zone. My time was a little slower than yours at 1 h 43 minutes, average 500M of about 2:27. I think I could have rowed at 2:15 without too much trouble, but I was rowing to the heart rate, not split times. :)

I've seen people reference their Marathon Mug before, is C2 still giving out Mugs for Marathon single sittings? like the current challenge... ?

Thanks.

Yes. If you row a full marathon you qualify to get a marathon mug.

Just got an email reply from Jennifer at Concept 2 today saying that my request for a mug has been received and will be processed in 2 to 3 weeks. That's much better than the first time I requested a mug when I had to send about 6 emails before I heard anything. :D
