Need a Model B ASAP!

Post by jappler » December 28th, 2007, 5:33 pm

Stuck in area of Cali where there's no place to row, and between work & grad school there's no time to get to the gym... Help! I'm going downhill fast!

For economic and nostalgic reasons I'd really like to find an old model B that's in good working condition. Anybody have any leads?
I'm willing to have it shipped cross country.

Thanks for the craigslist leads.
i had looked there but somehow only found one of the SF ones, and it's sale is pending to someone who beat me to it.
Hopefully the one in Carmel is still available.
Thanks again.

try this link. when you do a craigs list search, concept, concept2, concept 2, rower ,rowing-----they all can bring different results depending on how it was listed, example:. many a times I have done searches with only the word concept, if the posted it by concept2 my search with just the word concept would turn up with zero results. I hope this helps in your searching.
ps were are you located in CA

Yep, i found both.
The $250 one is possibly sold, and I've talked to the guy who has the one in Petaluma.
He's a nice guy, and seems to be making a pet business of refurbing model B's and selling them.
The price seems a bit high to me, though. Word on the street is a market value closer to $400 for the B.
That's what i've offered him, so we'll see if he will accept it.
My guess is we'll meet somewhere in the middle.

Be sure to check Ebay too.

There's a model B there now with a starting bid of $200, plus shipping which is usually around another $100.

$400 is plenty for a typical model B. Most on Ebay go for less, plus shipping.
Mine went for $535 but it was upgraded with quite a few extras.

Well, the guy up in Petaluma sold the refurbed one he had for his full asking price (high 5's), and backed out of selling me the other one, which was not refurbed, and had no PM for $300.

Guy in Carmel never called back, so I'm assuming he's gone somewhere for the holidays and probably sold the thing anyway.

I'd say I'm disappointed that I didn't get an erg., but really I'm more disappointed in human nature. It's amazing how nice and willing to drive to meet me half way that guy was when he didn't have a sale at the price he wanted in the bag, and how quickly he turned his back on me when he got what he wanted and figured he could get it again with the other one.
I called him and offered to drive the full 3 hours to pick the thing up on Saturday, and he just never returned my call.

Good grief, you can't even buy a rowing machine these days without someone trying to take advantage of you.

Back to the drawing board.

Be patient, and you'll find one for a good price soon enough.

To think that my precious Model B, my trusty steed, is only worth a paltry $250. What is the world coming to?

Heck, after I got a Model D, I gave away my B for nothing and it had a PM3 update.
