Today as a present from Santa I received. . .

Post by ckaiserca » December 25th, 2007, 6:43 pm

. . . a seat pad for my Model D. I sure could have used it yesterday when I decided to finish out the Holiday Challenge by rowing a full marathon!

I can't believe that my wife let me row the whole damn thing, and the entire time she had the new seat pad sitting in an envelope in her office bag!

Anyway, my first marathon is in the books at 3:32:34.9 hardly impressive, but still an accomplishment for me.

My total Holiday Challenge Meters: 357,055.
Started with my Model D on June 11, 2007
M 46 6'2" (1.87m) 233lbs (105.9kg)

Congratulations! Reaching the finish is an amazing achievement in itself - the time is irrelevant.

I did my 3rd marathon last week, and it was an interesting study in resetting of goals along the way. Started arrogantly with the aim of knocking 1 second per 500m off my previous PB pace, then dropped my sights to just beating my previous PB by 1 second (total time), and then reset to "just finish it"!

Fortunately I had a second wind near the end and managed to take 13 seconds off my previous PB, but the best feeling was just seeing the 0m finally appear, taking the shoes off and falling straight into the pool (it was 31 deg C out here).

No seat pad either - the left butt was still sore 2 days later.

Cheers
Dave

Haha. Letting you finish (without the seat pad) wasn't wasn't a gesture of goodwill it was a punishment! :D

Congratulations. Any marathon completed is a good accomplishment. B)

As for Santa, I got the complete set of Xeno DVDs for Christmas. Since I'm currently on the Disabled List with a back/rib injury and can't use them I'm being punished a bit too.

ck,

Many congrats!!!

I finished my first a few weeks ago as well..sure did make the 200k a whole lot easier to knock off!:)!

And at least your wife got you a pad at all!...mine just laughed at the way I was walking afterward and based on how entertaining she found it...I can pretty much ensure a pad isn't in the cards for me..at least not from her!

Did you email Jennifer about your mug yet? I did several times over the last few weeks to no avail unfortunately. Would be nice to know it isn't just me :(
