Hello,
I am new to the forum, new to rowing. I've been an active runner for many years, but now want to switch to an exercise that is less jarring on the bones. I've used both the Fluid Rower (s350) and the C2. I was wondering if anyone had any opinions they would like to weigh in on which is the better rower?
I liked both, the Fluid Rower has a nice sound to it when used, and I was able to see it when in its stored position (couldn't do this with the C2 at the gym). However, in the C2's favor is the ability to plug in a computer.
Cheers!
Fluid Rower Vs. C2
The C2 uses a braked flywheel. This means that by observing flywheel speeds and times, it can calculate how much work we're doing; and tell us. This in turn enables racing, accurate repeatability, the set-up and use of training programmes and so on.
You can also get the feel for rowing, if you pull with long relaxed strokes and some coaching help, as the inertial behaviour of the flywheel simulates that of a boat.
The inertial action also means that we decide the resistance, not the machine - you can pull as hard or soft as you like. This too has many effects, not least injury avoidance and progression in training programmes and within the single work-out.

Looks like a decent enough machine and would probably give you just as good a workout as the C2. Your body would not know the diffence however, your pocket book would. This rower is twice the price of the C2. The C2 also seems to have less moving parts and is pretty much completely serviceable by the user. In th 2.4 million meters I have put on my model D over almost two years, the only maintenance I have had to perform is lubricating the chain about once every two months.
