Anyone know the status of the new rowperfect rowing machine? Xeno promoted it heavily a while back but I have not heard anything about it since.

If you want to know about the rowperfect why not go the the rowperfect forum. This forum is provided to us by the folks at Concept 2 and I think we should respect that.

I think discussing the difference between a company that delivers on promises and one that apparently has trouble with living up to what has been forecast (I avoided using ther term "hype" so as to not be provocative) is a reasonable use of the forum.

I like both pieces of kit, but it's quite obvious which one should be purchased by those serious about putting it to use, The Concept 2 Indoor Rower. (With Slides of course) :D

I do agree that the RP site should be the best source of updated info, just as the C2 site is informative about their own machines. Without any negative mention of "the competition", I might add.

This is not the first time other rowing machines have been discussed on this forum. It is a forum for discussion. I own a Concept2 but am interested in what other manufacturers are putting out also. Xeno, who runs a studio with Concept 2 machines, has promoted Rowperfect as well.

I did go to the other company's website and found a USA dealer. The dealer couldn't say when the new model would be available for sale here. The rep said the cost would probably run from two to three thousand dollars. Which says to me that Concept 2 rowing machines are still by far the best rower for the money and provide the best customer service. Although I like my rower on slides, I also am intrigued by Rowperfect's design as well.

Find one to try. I've tried both the original and the newly designed model and found the only possible benefit over a C2+Slides is the required footprint for use and storage. OTOH, not being able to directly relate to a supportive group of like minded and equiped users is a definite liability unless you are inclined to be a self-motivated loner. Just my opinion of course, and I am a self-motivated loner, but see the value of a mutual support system.

Still no word on any of the websites about when the new machines are supposed to be available. I was told 2 weeks back at the end of September.

I exchanged messages with Xeno on YouTube several weeks ago, and from the sound of it, RowPerfect has yet to produce any production models of the "New" RowPerfect. He was hoping to get one of the first ones for testing.

Although I'd much prefer to be in a boat, despite the delay, the new Rowperfect should really be worth the wait. I used the new Rowperfect as a warm up machine during the Aust Masters Regatta in Sydney back in June. At the moment I use the old model.

If you had the choice, side by side, in a gym/rowing club of the new Rowperfect or a C2 on slides I would choose the Rowperfect every time. I've used both enough to know what feels best underneath me and it aint the C2 on slides. That thing is heavy and crude like compared to the compact and nifty little Rowperfect. Plus the action feels far smoother.

You'd be surprised how small the new Rowperfect looks next to a C2 machine. They have also greatly improved its looks and I reckon it looks spunkier than a C2 now (assuming the prototype isn't changed dramatically when it goes into production). We'll have to wait and see.

When the new machine finally hits the shores of the USA I'm sure it will sell well regardless of the extra cost and smaller scale customer service.

Caution: Static C2 ergs can ruin your technique and timing for rowing in a boat.
The best thing I ever did to improve my rowing was to sell my C2 and get a Rowperfect.
