Erg feels heavy...

I went to do a nice easy 10k today, and after transporting my erg 200miles back from college, pulling on the erg it felt a lot more "resisting" than usual. I checked the damper setting and it was at 3.5 and the drag factor ended up being 110. Any ideas what could make it feel as if there was more resistance yet the drag factor/damper setting remained the same?

How is the altitude where you go to school? Coming down to nearly sea level, from where we just moved, I have felt *less* resistance these days. If you, say, live on a mountain, but go to school in a valley, there could be some change. While transporting my erg, I left it open to the air in the back of the truck. Actually cleaned it out quite good. That may have helped a bit too. Perhaps it just got dusted up some?
