Experiencing Numbness in Foot

I've been an avid rower for about 10 months now but am now experiencing numbness in my left left foot at around the 15 minute point of my workout. I do have degenerative disk disease which could be causing pressure but I am wondering if anyone else has experienced this issue and if there is a solution. I think my body is talking to me but I'm reluctant to cease using the erg. Thanks for any feedback.

eric,

Are you rowing with or without the straps. If you use the straps, they could be causing the numbness.

If you only experience the numbness when rowing, I'd have to agree that you probably have the straps too tight, or a combination of straps and shoelaces too tight. There is an artery on the top of the foot (where one takes the pedal pulse) that is easily compressed. If the numbness was caused by a bulging disc impinging on the spinal nerves, you would certainly have pain and/or numbness at other times as well. Loosen your straps and wiggle your toes occasionally.
