Hurling.

One of the Irish National Sports, and probably the best spectator sport on the planet in my opinion. It is the worlds fastest field game and originated from Irish warriors training.

The sticks (Camans) are made from Ash, the ball is wrapped and varnished leather and helmets are not compulsory once you are over 18.

Rowing, then rowing, and then rowing, and let's see, ah, yes there was also running!

And Mountainbiking!

And (watching) motorcycling...

(getting slower on these two, as I get older and hurt myself when I fall off  )

I'm a fair weather cyclist. :D Before we had kids, my wife and I would go ride 20 - 50 miles depending on time available. We've done centuries and all of our vacations were biking vacations where we would go with a group and bike from B&B to B&B. Since the kids, we can only manage a 10 - 20 mile ride--done solo while the other watches the kids. I hope as children get older that we will be able to resume the bike trips with them participating.

One problem here, Tyn. There are two ways to like sports - watching and participating. By specifying "besides Ergiing/rowing" you imply that you intended participation and that is how I interpreted it. I notice that, in one answer, this ambiguity by was addressed by the writer specifying whether he meant watching or doing.

I haven't answered the poll, since I think that these sort of polls don't really mean too much, but I will say that I have almost zero interest in spectator sports - especially ball games. Watching some one else play games is just boring - unless I have a friend participating.

O.K. Other than erging, I am not into competitive sports. I do enjoy recreational cycling and hiking and would love to be back sailing again - but not for competition.

P.S. It is more fun to watch your posting, which is a sport all on its own.

I picked running but that is changing more and more each day as I erg more and more. I think I peaked about 6 years ago with running so I doubt I will be seeing any PR's in the future unelss I start running shorter or longer distance races. Since I am new to rowing I am seeing PB's all the time! :)

Boy does that sound familiar. I used to bike anywhere and everywhere B) . My wife also likes to bike, but we can hardly get our kids to bike to the end of the driveway  :? . We also hope that we'll be able to get back to it when the youngest is somewhat older.

How about having "Least favourite sport" for next week's poll?

I'll have a hard time chosing between golf, tennis or soccer if you do that poll.
