The EH! Team - logo??

Post by alkem » June 4th, 2006, 1:28 am

Hello EH! Team!
Just wondering, do we have some kind of team logo? I noticed in the CTC some teams have one.
I have an idea that I'll post on my profile.

Pretty neat, Michelle.
I wonder if there is a way to get the "Around the World" row in without making the graphic too busy - like a little globe sitting in the C2 seat.
Or maybe a map of the world that fades into the background behind the C2 with some pushpins in it.

Great logo, but it looks a little backwards to me. The globe should represent the flywheel. Maybe a maple leaf sitting on the seat?

Another sample in reverse with maple leaf.

I don't know how to include image in body of message, so I have to keep changing in my profile, so only latest version can be viewed.

Hi alkem.

This board doesn't allow uploading images for inclusion in posts, so to include photos in the body of a message, first get the image on the web somewhere else in either jpg or gif format.

If you don't have a web site you can host it on, there are a number of image/photo-hosting sites you can use (pbase.com, flickr.com, smugmug.com, photobucket.com, etc.) Most of those sites will have either a temporary "free" membership while you decide if you want a paid membership, or a "free" membership that will require you to access the account periodically (so you will see ads) or to buy something (prints, mousepads, etc. showing images). If you go that way, you just have to decide what "price" you're willing to pay for photohosting. One caution, some sites (like yahoo photos) don't allow "direct linking" or "hot linking" which is what you need to do to include the image here.

Once you get your image on the web (somewhere that doesn't inhibit direct linking), you just need to get the url of the image, make sure that it ends in either jpg or gif, and then put the image's url in the editing window between bbcode imgage tags. (highlight the image's url, then click the "img" button above your editing window).

HTH,

Alissa

Thanks for taking this on Michelle! I thought of trying it myself when I first saw all the great team logos at the ctc. Fortunately, your logo making is much better than mine!!!

Hi Michelle,

I'm not part of the team, but I liked #2 which had the team name on the left and the current team project on the right. Seems like the right emphasis...especially if there is any prospect of a different team project in the future. I understand that someone wanted the earth to be the flywheel, and that's why it flipped, but I think you could simply flip the erg, instead of the entire image.

I also liked the white name on red circle...w/ "team" in black.

Really nice work!

Alissa, I just found #2, with the globe on the seat, counterintuitive. I stared at the image for several seconds wondering why the chain was leading away from, rather than toward, the flywheel, before it dawned on me that the most prominent circle in the composition didn't represent the flywheel at all.

I think #3 is very snazzy, but whatever your team decides, great work Michelle.

Kinley, I think your point is a good one (the globe should be the flywheel)...I just think it should get solved by flipping the erg instead of the entire drawing. That way, the globe is the flywheel (intsead of on the seat) and is on the right as well!

I, too, will be interested in seeing what the Eh! Team decides on!

Nice design Michelle!

I agree with Alissa, the globe should be to the right, as we tend to "read" from letft to right. IMO, It is important that the "Eh! Team" should be on the rowing seat, afterall, it is us who do all the work!.

Something like this, with maybe more separation between the "EH!" and the "Team":
Image
49, 5'10.5" (1.79m), 153 lbs (69.5 kg)
1k 3:19.6 | 2k 6:42.8 | 5k 17:33.8 | 10K 36:43.0 | 30' 8,172m | 60' 16,031m
