Concept2 is now a Purpose Trust

Post by reuben » February 6th, 2025, 1:53 pm

I haven't seen this posted, but maybe I missed it.

Apparently effective as of January 1, 2025, although it was just announced two days ago, on February 4. It's the same thing Yvon Chouinard did with Patagonia. From our point of view, nothing should change.

Wow. It does fit the picture I have of C2: committed to customers and the greater rowing community. Past decades have shown the way. Nice to see they lay down solid organisational foundations for keep doing that in the future.

I wish I knew more about them (Purpose Trusts) and unfortunately, reading the description on Wikipedia didn't help much.

Nevertheless, it does sound like it's good news. C2 has always struck me as a good company in more ways than one, and when I bought my Model C from them ages ago, and when I buy spare parts (mostly to maintain the Model E at the gym) I'm always happy to send them my money.
