Logging standard distances
I'm working through the BPP, and getting a kick out of logging the workouts.
Today it was 6x500m, plus I added an initial interval of 2000m as a warmup.
When I logged it, obviously it came up as 5000m, with the option of ranking it - which would be unfair.
Is there a way to enter a workout to show that it was an interval piece, or do the rankings just depend on people having a conscience? (I had to go back and check that each of my ranked workouts had been done as single pieces )
As a related question, are there rules about taking breaks in longer pieces (marathon and longer), or must these be done without breaks?

Iβve never had the logbook provide an option for ranking an interval piece that Iβm aware of to date. I think there are those who have found ways to manipulate rankings. If I were a heavyweight but listed myself as a lightweight, that would be one way. Did you actually program rest periods as one normally would with an interval session or just 7 intervals with no programed rest? The logbook has guidelines and guardrails, but people will always find a way.

If you use Just Row, what happens is as you describe.
You can also program any specific piece using the PM. If the piece is a standard distance it will upload to your C2 log and to the Rankings if you wish. If non-standard or intervals it goes to log only.
To use the PM: Press any button to switch on, then:
Select Workout. You get a choice:
Standard
Custom
Rerow
New
Pressing any of these gives you a specific selection. The possibilities are many.

If you use Ergdata, there are daily pieces called Work Out of the Day (WOD):

These can be far too complex to input by hand, so Ergdata on a phone or tablet can connect to PM, download them and then upload our results to daily leaderboards.

As Joe mentions, you shouldn't be able to rank an interval session, if it was inputted as intervals.

It seems you are logging your stuff manually and put in your overall distance. In this case you would get the rank option, but it wouldn't be a verified result.
I don't know what happens, if you enter the verification code, if the logbook can detect, how the distance was split based on this code. So probably the rank option would disappear with entered verification code.

Thanks all - I enter the workout on the PM manually, and then enter the result manually on the log.
If it could be entered automatically from an app, I don't think I'd take that option - typing it in and seeing the numbers climb is part of the ritual (sad life that I have ).
I guess that it being "" not verified " is as good a safeguard as there could ever be

No. But it remains in the PM memory as Intervals if you programmed it as such.Is there a way to enter a workout to show that it was an interval piece?
If it's an Event, PM also gives a verification code for the Rankings.
To log as Intervals in your C2 logbook, you need Ergdata.
I also use spreadsheet with only meters, time and strokes. Any derivatives I want can be calculated automatically by day, week and year. If it was intervals I just add a note eg 4*2'.
Some WOD intervals are too complex to load by hand. Ergdata is far quicker and updates the logbook immediately in all the gruesome detail..

I hadn't thought about all the extra detail that would be recorded, so maybe I will try the app after all. There's no such thing as too much data

Most used apps are ergdata (c2's own app) and ergzone (3rd party). Ergzone instead has some challenges going, which are a lot of fun, so both apps have their specific "advantage"
