I was sent your post by a fellow rowing in my club. As the only rowing DJ I know of in existence, this has been my bread and butter. I did a post a few years ago on reddit that covers my approach which has made my spotify lists one of the most followed in the rowing world.

In short, I started with a massive list of earworms, narrowed it down to music that works while working out, and then sorted by SPM based on the beats per minute. The real trick is not in picking music that people will like, but in picking music that no one will hate. Masters programs include people from all ages and demographics. Good luck.

Did you post the chart? I was interested to see why a song was a 30 SPM song vs a 25 SPM song.

For example, I Wanna Be Sedated by the Ramones has a tempo of 163 BPM (or half-time at 82 BPM). What makes this an 18 SPM song?

This might be right for official regattas, but not for private use when rowing.
When I jump on my rower, I need music that gets me going, not matches my stroke rate. But that's me

The BPMs listed to the right are simply multiples of the stroke rate.

Sure, we all want music we like and that gets us going but it's extra special when it matches up to the strokes. It's a lot of fun.
