Get a C2 rowerg, or a single scull or join a boat club (they have both). Then learn to row; it's quite simple, but not entirely as may be expected. The instructions and what it looks like are here:

If you're not looking for a real world club to join, you could always try out one of the virtual clubs here. We're always happy to welcome new members at the Forum Flyers, which has a diverse spread of membership across the world, and has been running since 2001.
