Anyone want to play a silly Game February 2021?

Post by kevinrasco » January 31st, 2021, 11:53 pm

I have a fun idea for an 'unofficial' fun game we can play in February 2021.
Everyone loves noodles! So earn your bowl of RAMEN noodles by accomplishing these five miniature challenges. Each tricky part of the game earns one of five letters.
We can post a scoreboard on the forum Mid-Month, or logbook message me your accomplishments. I will share them weekly with the team.
Get out of any training rut you have been in. Try some different things on the machine. Lean in, pull back, You can do it!

R
'Groundhog's Day'
My apologies to the international rowers. In 1993 Bill Murray and Andie MacDowell starred in a famously absurd American movie. Bill relives the same day over and over, starting at 6:00AM when the same song plays on the clock radio. Row any workout you like on February 2nd for the 'R'. Be rowing at 6:00AM for a bonus wildcard that can be used as any letter! If you see your shadow while rowing it has no effect on the weather.

A
'Make Up Your Mind'
Row duplicates of a ranked event as timed and distance. If your 4:00 is approximately 1K, do both. Or if you get about 10K in a full hour, row both of those. Pick the time and distance that challenges you. You don't have to do them back-to-back but that would be awesome.

M
'Collect Them All'
Maybe attempting ALL ranked events is overreaching... But if you are like me you have some favorite ranked events, and others you have never attempted. Set benchmarks in any category (categories) you have previously skipped over.

E
'Shall We Play a Game'
Play that goofy fishing game, Darts, or try Target. share your score and impressions. Love it or hate it? Tip for Visually Impaired; Darts and Target both reward steady pace. Fishing is very random.

N
'Change for a Dollar'
Row any combination of short events to equal exactly a big round number. Your choice of times or distance. Can you get 'A and M for free while making change for a dollar?

I wonder if anyone else has seen this game?
I rowed a ridiculous and very challenging interval today. It was 1000+100+500+200+1000+200+2000 meters for 5000 total. I'll call that change for a dollar! In the rest periods I alternated push-ups, squats, pikes, and planks. No counting, just what I could do at the time. It kept me busy, and was the hardest 5K I've ever done.
I may try that again...

"N" for me. Four letters to go.

I had to give up on my own challenge unfortunately. (back probs) I hope to try this game again someday. I need to market it better though...

Another thought is a 'Poker Run'. But how can that be organized virtually? If anyone in the future stumbles onto this comment, please add your ideas.
