GARMIN HRM1G Heart rate Chest Strap Failure

Looks like my HR strap has died. I did notice last battery change a bit of water ingress but the reason has now become apparent.

Yes its great you can change the battery, but in reality your strap doesn't last any longer when the battery cover holding lugs shear off the main body so its a throw away anyway.

This was a hard strap version, the soft strap version is totally different and is better in this regard as long as you don't strip the threads of any of the 4 screws holding the battery cover on. Unfortunately I find the connectivity of the hard version to be much better.

Getting a replacement HRM1G from E-Bay as they are literally 1/4 of the price of what they are sold for over here.

Will post up a review on it when it arrives. These are made in China anyway so chances are it will be fine, if not it was worth a try.

Agree, a best buy in chest straps, more comfortable than the snap-ons, more reliable, don’t have to short the batt contacts at replacement, and mine is going strong after four yrs.
