Hi All,

Would like to have an older model Concept II cleaned and oiled up, probably requires some dis-assembly.
Any recommendations for a service / equipment repair in or nearby Fairfield County CT.

I know this isn't what you asked, but are you sure you don't want to try to do it yourself?

Unless there's something really wrong with it, odds are all you'll need to do is wipe it down, oil the chain (C2 recommends 3-in-1 oil), and clean out the flywheel and screen (the screen will probably need to be removed to allow access to the flywheel, depending on the model). Be careful that you don't more or otherwise molest the balance weights on the flywheel, or if you do, be sure to put them back where they were when you started. (best not to touch them at all)

On other thing - if the rower's really old the bungee may need to be replaced, but C2 can walk you through that.

All in all they aren't very complicated.

Edit: Not to sound like a broken record, but something else just occurred to me - the hassle of taking a rower somewhere to have it cleaned is surely a greater job than just doing it yourself.

Thanks for that and you're absolutely right. I'll give it a shot. It's a Model B / PM1 that made a huge diff 20 plus years ago and has been idle collecting dust since. Guess I can't do any serious damage and no downside !! I'll hunt around for guides / videos.

The model B drag factor was quite high, plus the gearing was slightly different.
I mostly covered the damper side and perimeter with roofing paper and zip ties, cut to fit.
Foam and old truck tire innertube were also used at different times. Covering the side was for
reduction of drag, and covering the perimeter was for directing the air flow away from me. This also
helped with reduction of noise, and for keeping the inside clean, plus covering with a towel when not using.

I have a B, now about 31 years old, and it still works great. I replaced the bungee years ago and have done no more than routine chain oiling and dust cleaning. I also put a piece of masonite on the side to reduce drag, plus a few unique mods to improve ease of use.
