Just coming back to rowing after years away and loving it. Introduced my wife to rowing and she's hooked as well.

What are your favorite iPhone and laptop apps for both training (performance measurement and improvement) and for fun - asynchronous racing against someone who rowed before you, rowing with people in other geographic areas, racing against a bot and finally a scenery app that will show a first-person perspective of rowing down a river?

I have been using 3D real scenery rowing on the water for the past 4 months exclusively, but in the dark days of winter training I like to use PainSled (iPhone) or BoatCoach (Android) for data capturing.

Painsled works with Zwift, which means I am "riding" along with cyclists. It's really a nice way to make time go faster on long low intensity steady state sessions.

You need a PM5 monitor or an adapter kit with PM3/4.

Hi Sander, thanks for the suggestions. Which 3D real scenery rowing app/device combo are you using? A rowing app that lets you row through interesting locations around the world would be fun.

Which data points do you most focus on in PainSled or Boatcoach? We have iPhones, so would be using PainSled.
