Around the World Row!
Around the World Row!
Welcome back to the Eh!Team and the C2 board.
We have hit a few milestones over the passed few days.
We are now over 8 Million Meters! and we have made it into Algeria.
For those of you who have not seen this thread before, the Eh!Team is attempting to row around the world. It is over 55 Million meters. We should wind up at the Concept2 headquarters about ?December 2006.
Check out Around the World Row if you would like more information.
Keep on rowin', hosers.
Jim
(PS: I am back out of the mountains and found a great rowing place in Calgary - the dowtown YMCA. Should be home in a few days.)

Not even the sky is the limit
Jim, now Mars is up for grabs too. After the Sahara, it won't seem that much of a change:

By the way, I didn't catch any hidden jokes in the map. I know that for the Moon Google map, if you keep zooming in, you see cheese. I thought I might see Martians here, maybe holding signs saying Welcome Rowers, but I didn't see any.

Hey, that Mars map is cool. Maybe we should row around mars after we finish with the Earth! It doesn't quite have the same capabilities as the google earth system yet tho.
If anybody wants to post markers, jokes, etc to the around the world row file, just let me know and I can tell you how to do it.
Keep on rowin', hosers.

I think that maybe we should row around the Klingon home world. Although on second thought we'd probably spend more time fighting and drinking blood-wine than rowing. Hmmm, tough choice
.
Shannon's sister, Krysta Coleman is up from Alberta visiting and we had a big row day together today. We've got two ergs at the house so they went against each other with the addition of someone from France (row-pro.) Shannon got a pb on a 5k by 19 seconds (extra nice since she recently became a light-weight!) and I did a 1/2 marathon. I was able to take off 5:20 on the time (1:21:23.5, pace 1:54.7!) A big thanks out to Francois. He told me that I should lower my stroke rate and that made a huge difference. I kept it between 24-29, except for the last 500 metres. It's too bad that you can't claim pb's on the distances covered during a longer race, or I would have gotten pb's on the 10k and hour row too. The hour row I was up by over 400 metres.
I haven't been rowing that much for quite a while now, doing most of my working out on a wind-trainer. It showed me that the two sports compliment each other well.

Congrats on the new PB's, Shannon and John!
We spent the night in Krysta's hometown of High Level last night after a horrible drive through blowing snow from Calgary. Today was more of the same, but we finally did make it home safely. (Only one brief foray into the ditch.....)
I should be able to start putting kliks back on the erg now that we are home for a "while".
Keep on rowin', hosers.

Congratulations on the Efforts J & S.
I'm sure a calculator and RowPro can tell you exactly where you were for your nonathlon scores. You're not claiming extra distance, just acknowledging the times that you rowed through them.
It seems I should be spending more time on my bike!
Cheers,
Kirk

John, this is a huge improvement and a very good time!
IMO, there is no problem posting PBs for the intermediate distances, even though the PM3, only gives the IND_V for the HM.
BTW, what were your 10k time and 60 min distance? I am also curious about your pacing!

Hi Francois,
My 10k split was 38:23 and the hour split was 15552. I'm feeling the after effects today! I don't know how a person can age 40 years over night
. I still did an hour very easy on the bike to help recup. I don't think I could post the pb's for the intermediate distances even though I made sure I noticed them when they happened. I'd have to put on the additional distances into the log, which of course I didn't do, so it wouldn't be right. I'll just have to suffer through them some other day
. Thanks for the encouragement Francois, Kirk and Jim! Have a great week! John.

Great rowin', hosers.
We are now rowing through the Adrar region
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adrar of Southern Algeria http://www.cia.gov/cia/publications/fac ... os/ag.html. The picutre above is a sample of the terrain we would be going through.
You would think that would slow us down, eh? But not us hosers. We managed a record day of 201,802 meters on March 16!
Keep on rowin', eh

We keep a logbook of our rows at the Eh!Team Row site. The Eh!Team rowsite is available by clicking on the link below my signature.

Vince Lam 3/16/2006 5000
Adrienne Horton 3/16/2006 5000
On the 16th there were 18 rowers. The logbook is my estimated extrapolation of the Concept2 logbooks, so there can be some errors, eh.
I do not have access to the members personal logbooks, so our rowbot, "looks" at the members eh!team totals and tries to figure out how much each member rowed since the rowbot last looked. The rowbot "looks" everytime someone logs on to the Eh!Team site so the information is fairly accurate.
The rowbot can be fooled by people submitting all of their kilometers for a week on one day to the C2 site or by not having looked for a few days. Overall, it is pretty accurate, and serves for our purposes.
Hope this helps.
Keep on rowin', eh.

No, that entry would have been when I had to let our rowbot out the gate manually. I was away on holidays, and the rowbot did not update the site for about 10 days or so. The entry is probably not valid for that time frame either, but reflects a new member of the Eh!Team. I have now restricted the rowbot into 42k max distances for new members. I can override this if people send me verification of the distance.Ben Rea wrote:Peter Boucher 2/12/2006 573,114
apparently that guy did that many meters in one day....typing mistake?????
You will notice that the "stats page", http://216.119.121.169/ehteam/stats.aspx only keeps track of entries after Feb 13, 2006. That is when our rowbot started doing things automatically without me having to let him out of the gates.
From January 20, 2006 to Jan 31, 2006 we had rowers with us from the C2 January challenge.
When calculating our max speed, the rowbot only looks at dates after Feb 13, 2006. Hope this helps.
Are you interested in joining the Eh!Team for our around the world row? Probably our most "fun" feature is the google earth file. http://216.119.121.169/ehteam/rtwrnet.kmz. It also reflects the Cross Canada Row and the Trans Atlantic Row.
