Newcomer Questions

Post by NessieDipper » June 25th, 2017, 3:00 pm

Hi all, new to the site and have a couple of questions i'm hoping you can help with.

I'm based in Scotland UK and wondering if there is a dedicated UK forum? Looked into joining a few years back but illness prevented me. Seemed to be a lively site going then but I can't find it.

Is there any reason for the numbered foot plate positions? Nothing about it in the manual. Is it just a case of setting to foot size so strap crosses ball of foot or does it make a technical difference?

Thanks in advance :)

ps ... I love my rower B)

The UK forum died a year ago. Indoor Sports Services moved it to another internet service and borked it in the process. They lost a valuable resource.

Everyone who was still a forum user migrated over here. This forum is now a extremely lively place where all the Facebook Anti-theists post their stuff. Unfortunately, a lot of folks who disappeared were deeply assimilated into the Faceborg.

I'm one of the Facebook Anti-theists, so I hope C2 keeps this space up...

To answer your question on footplate hole numbers, in the very basic sense, it is to accommodate different feet sizes. As you get more into it, you'll find yourself adjusting them to get the optimum catch position and power on the drive. Search this forum and you'll find discussions of foot position. Start with them, as you suggested, with the strap where your toes bend. Work on good form for a while, then play with the settings. Once you have a good base, you'll be easily able to note the differences between a high and a low foot position.

Welcome, and have fun!

Welcome to our happy enclave! There is an additional alternative to Faceplant groups should you be interested:

Thanks for that. I can stop pondering at my feet now!

Do hope this forum continues. Wading through the "this is me on my Concept" selfies would make me give up my oars!!

Thank you :)

I will have a look at that. Any advice I can gather for correct technique and understanding the info on the PM5 will be helpful.
Providing I don't have to join the Faceplants or Faceborgs (I like that one :D)

Cheers all!

There is a huge amount of stuff on this site especially in the training threads - have a look at ones generated by "newbie" questions and the like - lots of advice and links to technique videos.

Despite the loss of the UK forum, remains an excellent source of training info and daily workout scheds for fitness, weight loss, prep for comps and time trials from 2000m to full marathon distance: https://indoorsportservices.co.uk
