Concept2 Utilities under Linux?

Has anyone found a way to get the Concept2 Utilities to run under Linux, well enough to read the USB key and upload workouts to the online logbook?

Failing that, I would be curious to hear what others do, who don't have ready access to a Windows or Mac machine. For example, does one or another of the Android apps have the ability to access the PM5 and get the data off the USB key, to upload it? Or does one have to capture workouts "live" via Bluetooth with Android?

For my first million meters, I copied my stats into a paper logbook, then manually entered the data into an Android app that posted it. Just got my very own Model D for the next 4 million. :)

You may be able to run it on Linux X86_64 using WINE, but no guarantees.

Write an email to rowing@concept2.com with your requirements, they're going to have to notice that more folks are using Linux some time soon.

Ergdata on iPhones or Android can upload to your logbook.

I've been able to run it under Ubuntu 18.10 using Wine 3.20. I'm able to read from USB and upload to log book.

It would be great to have a native version anyway ;)

The chances of getting an Ubuntu native version are asymptotically close to zero. Stick with what works for you.

Hi,
Interesting I couldn't manage to update my pm3 via win 7 running in virtualbox on debian. But for me it looks like a problem with the USB device handling. dmesg shows that the pm3 is identified with Id ... but it's not recognised correctly by win guest.
Anyway I updated it with my wife's windows laptop.
regards
Pascal

FYI: the following setup turns out to work.
  • Laptop with Debian Buster (10.5)
  • VirtualBox (6.1.12) with Windows10 (64 bit)
  • Concept2 Utility 6.54
(I tried later versions, but they failed to recognize the presence of my PM3.)
  • PM3 (firmware version 108) connected to a USB3 port
(When I connect the PM3 to a USB2 port, the Concept2 Utility detects the PM3, but not the log card.)
In this context, "working" means being able to download workouts to a CSV file; I didn't test uploading firmware.
