What are common reasons for lower back pain after rowing? I figure it's technique, but what exactly? Any advice appreciated.

Thanks,
Wayne

Bending the spine instead of keeping it straight and bending at the hips is often the cause.

Not technique perse, rowing simply work the back a lot. And mans back is often mo that strong. Mostly the vertabrea,s ar th problem, many people have herniated disks.
Lower the drag, up the rating, that makes it easier on the back.

It can be sore just because its not used to the exercise. Also any historic back injuries can come to the fore on the Erg but it seems luck of the draw as rowing helps mine rather than making it worse, this is possibly because Rowing also builds your core muscels and this in turn helps support your back.

I would however check the actual drag factor on the monitor as drag thats to high is going to lead to increased chances of a sore back.
