Pulled the trigger...

Post by Scrowley » September 25th, 2013, 7:16 pm

... and ordered a Concept2 D PM4 today. I've been lurking here for a while, I have never tried indoor rowing but want to give it a shot. Looks like there is a great, supportive community here. I've been into weightlifting for quite a while, but have always hated my elliptical. I'm 6'1" and my stride is too long for it. The C2 looks like a better way to torture myself. I was initially going to get a PM3 monitor, but decided against it because I believe the PM4 will allow me to choose different HRMs. If I was to upgrade to a PM4 at a later date it would have cost me more in the long run. Anyways, I'm really excited and obsessing about this rower. It's going to be a long 5 day wait...

Just looked it up and I didn't realize that the PM4 comes with a Garmin belt. Still more than I want to pay for a PM4 but at least that takes some of the sting out of it. Wish the PM3 HRM attachment worked with ANT+ protocol.

Yeah, I kept going back and forth between the two monitors. Was a tough decision I don't even know at this point how much I will use the HRM, but I guess with the ant+ and firmware updates it seems like it may be future proofed for a little while. If not I guess I'm out an extra 125.00.

In the end I would *have to* knuckle under and get a PM4. The usefulness of a HRM is just too great for serious training. I wouldn't be ecstatic about it at the time but over the years of usage that extra money isn't going to matter. Plus you'd figure that it will fetch more money if/when you sell it.
