I'm contemplating building a rowing shell to use at the cottage next summer. Just wondering if anyone has taken on this project and what design was used. There are a few out on the web but just looking to see if anyone has first hand experience with a homemade shell.

Ken Bassett had plans for a wooden shell called Cheap Thrills. Simple square cross section design, 24 or 26 feet long, one foot wide in the cockpit. A couple of C2 employees made this design with good success. He might still provide plans. Follow this link...http://www.ciaovt.org/Ken-Bassett/Ken.htm
