Not to be negative but the only problem I have is that it looks great on paper but its not rowing.

55spm ? thats going to look absolutely horrendous. I was pulling 1:20 pace for 1 minute at 34spm, sure its no WR but it was a proper full stroke.

The other reason it's not a WR is there is no WR for one minute.

The shortest ranked row is four minutes. The short course rowing competitions row for 100m, 300m or 500m.

Even 2k rowers often rate 40 these days. Bond and murrey rate mid 30/35 even on 10k s.... That all is no rowing ofcourse, just luck that they win everything for year now.

You proberly also don,t count Usain Bolts records, cause his legs move to fast

Doug they are definitely ranking and recognising the 100m and 1minute this season and have given WR status as well - if you search the rankings for WR for those pieces they come out OK. (mine is the 60+ 1minute!)

Wow, so since YOU cant do it then it must not be rowing.... cause 1:20 @ 34 rate is impressive? Lmao

Sorry to disagree Carl but whilst it may not be "rowing" it is definitely indoor rowing/erging and the sprints are legitimate endeavours that require a totally different technique. SR of 55+ is part of going really fast OTE but not everyone can do it just like not everyone can do a hard 10k+ @sr18 or the like. (I cant do a fast 60minutes to save my life) A lot of the really short stuff was first done seriously in New Zealand - the home of the World Shortcourse Championships about 8 years ago organised by the NZIRA - they were the pioneers. Sprint events open up our "sport" to a whole new group of athletes which can be no bad thing.

Just some food for thought, but a differently-worded (or even no) response might have portrayed a less pot/kettle atmosphere.

Aside from that - it's great to see your pop taking to it so enthusiastically.

Since when did "artistic impression" count for anything in erging?
The aim of the exercise is to cover the maximum distance possible in 1 minute - simple, and 392m is a very impressive effort.

You tell me, but this spring concept2 really pushed the new ranking stuff so odd you missed that, plus this is certainly not the first time a 1min wr thread showed up.
