Logcard Broken?

Post by rogermorrow » March 8th, 2010, 1:54 pm

My logcard stopped incrementing my rowed meters from my PM3. I formated the card which erased everything and rowed a few meters, but none of the metrics were updated. Do I need a new card? Is my PM3 broken as regards to writing data to the logcard? Is there something else I can try?
Thanks in advance for your assistance.

I had a LogCard stop working for me. Concept2 UK replaced it last time I visited their offices/warehouse to pick up 20 machines for a competition I run.

It's cheaper to replace that for a test than to replace your PM3. If you have another machine with a PM3/PM4 you could try reformatting the card on a second machine, but at "a dime a dozen" it's probably not worth the hassle.

Thanks for the quick response. I don't *think* the logcard is the problem. The Logcard Utility is not complaining about the logcard, nor is the PM3. I am going to *reset* the PM3 by removing its batteries overnight and inserting new ones tomorrow.

Do you still have USB comm's to a PC ? if so the PM3 is probably ok. Also visit the Concept 2 website and make sure your PM3 is running the most up to date version of the firmware.

I think my problem may be attributed to user error. It now appears to me it is the "Just Row" option on the PM3 does not record the meters rowed, and does not increment Lifetime meters. All other selected workouts, "2000m", "5000m", etc do increment the number of meters rowed. I don't know if this is a new behavior, or one that I just overlooked. Anyway, after resetting the PM3 and recovering the logcard data from backup, all is fine now.

Thanks all for your assistance!

That seems odd. I frequently use the just row feature as part of my sessions and those data are always recorded.

Time to update the firmware to V105.

All the PM3s I've ever used log every metre I've rowed including the resting ones on intervals. There are some quirks in the maths used for monthly totals but my personal lifetime metres on my logcard record monotonically increases and always is a fair reflection of the number of metres I've rowed.

(I've never checked for quirks in how lifetime metres on the PM3 are recorded.)
