Looking to buy PM2+ (plus) monitor in UK
Hi all, newbie here, so I hope I'm posting in the right place!
I'm trying to find somewhere to buy a PM2+ (plus) monitor. I wonder if anyone has a second hand one for sale / knows where they can still be purchased???
I'm in the United Kingdom.
The reason I'd like one, is so that I can connect my model C rower to the internet.
Thanks
Davey

Hi, the PM2+ and PM2 is no longer in production and would only be available second hand. They are a good monitor as long as the batteries have never leaked in them or they slowly corrode and die. The PM2+ needs a serial port on your PC or you need to buy a Keyspan USB adapter to make it work if your PC doesnt have a serial port.
Personally I would buy a new PM3 or PM4, the decision would depend on if you want to measure your heartrate or already have a Polar chest strap and the separate polar receiver you need to buy. The PM4 comes with a complete Sunnito setup ready to go.
The PM3 or PM4 is a better monitor for online rowing like RowPro as this software utilises the lower half of the screen due to the fact it is a full graphics display and shows the relative distance of the person in front and behind and pre race and start information on you PM.

... all that, but also you can use a logcard with a PM3 or PM4. The logcard is a memory card that goes into a "credit card" style slot in the PM3/4. It records all the details of your workout (including HR, if you have the interface). You can then use a logcard reader (approx £30) to transfer data to the online log and/or a PC spreadsheet.
Cheers,
Dave.
PS: There's an active UK forum, which probably has at least as much traffic as this one, although many people peruse both. In fact the trans-atlantic chatter is so common that I don't know why there are two fora.

30 Quid for a reader ? are you not better off buying a copy of RowPro for the same price and use the C2 log and be able to do the analysis ? Also you are able to race against one of your previous rows and the online rowing is fantastic.
I do agree with getting a card as sometimes RowPro does crash and with the card you can upload the full race data to the C2 Log via the USB to the PM3.

I use a reader. Only reason for that is that the nearest PM3 is 5Km away.Carl Watts wrote:30 Quid for a reader ?
Folks with a PM3/PM4 on their own machine at home should forget spending GBP£30 on the reader and should simply hook-up their PM3/PM4 directly to their computer. The £30 saving goes towards the USD$99 for RowPro.
If folks do need a reader because their machine isn't at home can get them on eBay for much less than thrity quid.

Nah, I'm just a saddo loner that sits in his garage in splendid isolation.Carl Watts wrote:30 Quid for a reader ? are you not better off buying a copy of RowPro for the same price and use the C2 log and be able to do the analysis ? 30 notes is just the money I used to spend on booze every week, before I started to row. So, money like that I just regard as an investment in health, rather than the self-destruct mission I used to be on. However, all I've really done is substitute one addiction for another.

Cheers,
Dave.

You could do alot worse with the money.....better spent on rowing I recon it's a more healthy addiction but still expensive for energy drinks instead of the booze !Snail Space wrote:Nah, I'm just a saddo loner that sits in his garage in splendid isolation.Carl Watts wrote:30 Quid for a reader ? are you not better off buying a copy of RowPro for the same price and use the C2 log and be able to do the analysis ? Got my currency conversion a bit wrong, would be closer to 60 quid for RowPro for you guys anyway.
