Hi Tyler and welcome to the Eh-Team! My sister used to live in Shrewsbury many years ago, nice area . In case you or anyone else is interested, quite a few people on the Eh Team do a monthly challenge called the Cross Team Challenge. Each month there is a different challenge posted (last month it was doing a mile, this month it is a 2K.) The web site for this is at www.c2ctc.com We get more points for filling up more "boats" (5 people to a boat) and there must be a lightweight and a female in each boat. So it doesn't matter how fast or slow a person is, the main idea is to get people involved. It's a great motivator, check it out!spike83189 wrote:I row for Saint Johns High School in Shrewsbury Ma. So it is our Fall season. We are racing Chaminad and some other schools Sunday.

Some excellent times on the C2C challenge team. We need some women in the boats in order to qualify. Usually the ladies are filling up the boats, long before the men, but this month we seem to be first off the mark.spike83189 wrote:Thanks for telling me about the Cross Team Challenge. Is def sounds like a good modivator. I just signed up and put my erg in. I dont really get how it works but i guess ill find out.

I should talk, as I have not posted (or rowed) a 2k this month. I will try and post a time over the next few days.
In the meantime we are blasting across Antartica and well on our way to Tierra Del Fuego. Any guess on when we go rowing into C2 headquarters in Vermont?
My guess is about March 31, 2007. We are averaging about 120,000 meters per day since Feb 13, 2006 and we have just over 19 million meters to go , that is 158 days, puts us at April 15, 2007. So thinking we can pick up a little, my guess is
March 31, 2007
I will send a free C2 water bottle to any one who guesses closer, but you have to have your guess posted here on the C2 around the world thread by Nov 30, 2006 and you can't pick a date that has all ready been chosen.
Good guessing!
oh, and by the way, to all you hosers....
Keep on rowin', eh.

Now that I have finally done the 2K (for some reason over the last five years, since I started the whole erging thing, I have never gotten around to it) I decided to check out the VO2 max calculator on the Concept site. Seems I have a VO2 max of 43. Now I'm really curious to see how some of you high output types who are consistently in Boat 1 score. (I am not counting myself as a denizen of Boat 1; as my time there is only on sufferance).
Don't be shy!

Eh Trevor, the VO2 max calculator sounds like fun. I'm not sure where to find it though. If you (or anyone else) gets a chance, could you please let me know where to find it? Thanks in advance!Trevor wrote:Now that I have finally done the 2K (for some reason over the last five years, since I started the whole erging thing, I have never gotten around to it) I decided to check out the VO2 max calculator on the Concept site. Congratulations to all of the CTC rowers!! Has anyone gotten a pb or close to their pb's? As far as females getting in the boats, Shannon wants to do it, but she is doing a lot of races right now with her speed skating. She's hoping to get a couple of days sometime where she'll get a chance to give it a go. It's great that we've got so many involved this early in the month ! John.

Thanks Trevor! Mine came out to 62.3 for the VO2 max test . That kind of made my day!Trevor wrote:Put me down for March 15 (at 1352 hrs). I think the holiday challenge will up the average daily metres.
The VO2 calculator is on the main Concept 2 site under the training pull down menu;Calculators.

I'll take an early guess that's probably too optomistic, but since it's my birthday. . . March 7th. Hopefully, we'll get more member and everyone rows a lot during the x-mas challenge . John

This will give us a idea of where we each stand, relative to the world, in terms of VO2 max.

The Head of the Lake Regatta will take place in Seattle, Washington tomorrow.
My son is rowing in Brentwood's senior lightweight 8. I wish them and all of the competitors good luck. I hope all of that training pays off.
Keep on rowin', eh.

Well, the Head of the Lake Regatta was cancelled for the very first time yesterday. Very disappointing for all involved.
Welcome back to Brigitte, we missed you!
We are making good progress and we are now north of the Antarctic Circle. Keep those guesses coming for when we finish this row.
