Bill, the first time I read this, my heart skipped a beat. Then I read it again and got the same result ... you know, when you read something "wrong" several times in a row ... meaning, as my wife says, that you're, "seeing things". I could have sworn this said:

... he's got better Johnson numbers, too.

Then I thought, "Oh my goodness, that's what this has come to ... comparing Johnsons!"

I just had to share ... I've been laughing for 10 minutes ... silly, yes, but hopefully not totally inappropropriate ... my excuse is age ... it just seems to keep going up!

true, by the letter. My PB is 6:40.3, done 25 years ago, but I wouldn't dare to call this a PB in this forum (oops, now it is there :) ).
When done many (or maybe even 3.5 years  ) ago is says nothing or little about one's current fitness or potential.
My current 2K is 7:17 and I will be happy with every second I go faster in the future.

Tom
I think they do say something about your potential, but nothing about your current fitness, even if they are 4 weeks old...

Putting a time in a signature just is saying: look what I have been able to! B)
I did a running marathon last year slightly over 3:30. As it probably will be my only marathon, it will be my lifetime PB. And I will be as proud of it when im 80 (if I get to be) as I was the day after...

That doesn't mean that I'll try to trick someone into thinking that I'll be able to run 3:30 when I'm 80... :?

Other example: A crew is current national champs in the master eight. Next weekend the national championships will take place, and this crew won't renew the title, as it won't race the eight. Does this mean they're less national champions? Or only that they're not the current national champions?
