Around the World Row!
After 2 weeks of too much work both at the airport and at home, I managed to get a last attempt in at the CTC. I almost got there John, but almost is not quite good enough this month. Hopefully I'm safe in Boat 2.
I managed PBs at 5K yesterday and the 30min today so I'm creeping back up on you in the Nonathlon Kirk! I must improve my 6K, 10K and HM to be more equal with the other events. This is not the time of the year for HMs even though my basement is cool, fanned and ACd! Maybe I'll try the 500 and 2K, brutal lung-bursters that they are!
Congratulations to all who improved PBs this month. Well done!
Cheers
Dave
PS Is Brian OK?

Congratulations on your PBs Dave. Two in two days!!! If you hadn't done the 5k yesterday, I'm sure you would have passed me in the 30 minute row .
I don't envy you the heat. It's 17 C. out here right now and on the weekend when it was sunny we had a very nice 24C. I'm going to have to do a bit of a recovery before giving the 500 metre a go. This weekend we had the "Tour De Whitehorse" cycling races. Three races over 3 days. It was a great event with a 2k hill climb "sprint" on Friday evening (8 degree grade), a 35k time trial on Saturday and an 80k road race on Sunday. Luckily I'm not sore, but my muscles have a deep down tired feeling. I've been neglecting the erg this summer but I'm going to start slowly picking it back up here in August and get into a regular routine in September. I've got two more races in August, a time trial and the Yukon Championship Hill climb and a final time trial September 2nd. Then it's all erg after that!
I'm worried about Brian too. Has anyone noticed if he's logged any metres?

Yes Dan, I figured I might as well get it over with sooner rather than later!!danwho wrote:Whoa, Shannon!!! Already have a CTC time posted. Way to go.
Michelle, I guess you'll have to set your alarm clock for midnight next time.
I got a PB by 1.5 seconds, so I was happy about that . My pacing was terrible though, so I think there is room for improvement. The last 200 metres were pretty awful and really quite slow. My 100 metre splits varied by 7 seconds from fastest to slowest !
Dave, great job on all the PB's!! You are cranking!! We don't seem to be having that much hot weather up here in the Yukon this year. It is 10C as I type this. Oh well, at least it isn't snowing !!

Great rowin', everyone. I should be able to pull a 500 meter challenge.
Do I just throw the Drag Factor up to 10 or is there a more reasonable approach to this??
Our around the world row boat is just south of the Jack Hills in Australia.
This is the oldest rock on the planet.
Jack Hills, Australia : Oldest piece of earth on th Earth
The Jack Hills are located in the Narryer Gneiss Terrane of the Yilgarn Craton, Western Australia, and comprise an 80 km long northeast-trending belt of folded and metamorphosed supracrustal rocks. This is the oldest piece of earth on the earth
Sedimentary siliciclastic rocks, interpreted as alluvial fan-delta deposits, are the major lithology. Minor mafic/ultramafic rocks and banded iron formation (BIF) are also found in the sequence. The overall sequence is generally considered to be a granulite gneiss, which has undergone multiple deformations and multiple metamorphic episodes. The protolith age of the Narryer Gneiss Terrane is variable, but generally considered to be in excess of 3.6 Ga (billion years).

Keep on rowin', eh.

Hey Trevor, congratulations. I just noticed you were selected as a Weekly Winner: http://www.concept2.com/05/training/mot ... reeves.htm
I'm really happy you found a little corner of the world safe from the Exercise Valkeries.
I'm really happy you found a little corner of the world safe from the Exercise Valkeries.
Yes, well my corner is literally in a corner about as far as one can get from the Valkeries. I think that is so they will not be exposed to the unattractive sight of someone sweating. The valkeries never sweat as one must look good at all times.
When I turned fifty one I suddenly noticed that younger women were suddenly smiling back at me. Prior to this I had red circles on me from being fended off with with 11 foot poles. I was feeling rather good about this, until a 72 year old friend of my Mom's told me why. Once you get past a certain age you are no longer regarded as any form of sex object, just a friendly old guy. He told me to enjoy it while I could, because in twenty years if I smiled at young women I would fall into the dirty old man category

Great rows on the C2C challenge for the 500 by David, John & Mark. Congratulations.
It is going to be hard for me to get into and stay in our number one boat. I guess I should try while there is still an empty seat.
Keep on rowin', eh. Every meter counts.

Great rowing guys - we're 11th on the c2ctc board! I'm still in the UK and have recently been staying at a place with a fairly beat up Model C. I swear the dust in the fly-wheel housing is naturally adding drag to the chain ... and wearing me out faster ... well, at least thats the excuse I'm using til I get back on a better machine. Will give it a go by the weekend I hope.
Cheers mates,
Troy

Hi Eh Team,
My 11 and 12 year old niece and nephew just did their first 500m attempts on the rowing machine today. I was wondering if they could put their times up on the CTC for the Eh Team, since they are born and bred Canadians (British Columbia).
