Stu- well, I guess my short term memory is not as bad as I thought. Glad that it worked. Here's another useful one to reduce power consumption. After the flywheel has stopped rotating go to main menu and press the menu/back 4 times slowly. This will turn the monitor off immediatly rather than staying on and using power for 4 minutes. The monitor will power up normally (tach input, card insert, button press or reset buttton) from this state.......C2JonW

Jon,

I have done this a number of times and sometimes it works fine, but often it comes right back on again after a few seconds, showing the startup C2 logo. I had also heard that pressing the main menu/back for several seconds would also do this. When I tried that, it shut off, but rarely stayed off. It usually started back up again. That technique was less effective than the pressing four times.

Bob- Note that the flywheel must be at a near dead stop, otherwise the monitor sees a tach signal and will power up......C2JonW

Aha. Got it. Thanks, Jon. Gotta miss the Model B. It could be brought to a stop by (careful) braking with the toe of a shoe.

Sometimes the monitor goes off in 3 presses from the menu, and the 4th press brings it back on.

I've gotten in the habit of pressing the button 3 times, waiting 2 seconds, then pressing the 4th time.

I've noticed there is no secret to the 4 presses, as you can hold the button down 1 time, or press it 9 times quickly and the monitor still will go off.

In fact I've gotten it to go off and come back on by pressing it once, and gotten it to stay off by pressing it 9 times.

I definitely prefer having the monitor off when my rowing is done. Usually I tap the button a couple of times to get to the main screen, then tap it 6, 7, or 8 more times quickly by feel (intuition), which most of the time gets the monitor to go off and stay off.
