I am no more row4life than Sir P is Chad.

On a personal note however - Knowing what it takes to actually be put in jail (I'm an ex-cop), Chad must have really messed up big time. To get to that level, takes quite a bit of thought. So even though it sucks that he's going away for awhile, I don't have very much sympathy.

When will you race DA? :D And I mean on an erg, not some Otw race in the middle of nowhere with a senior partner.

But Chad is in the UK, and doing just about anything we (in the USA) would consider trivial will get you tossed in jail (carrying a concealed spork for instance), prison seems at least a step up from that, but perhaps the sentencing will go better than anticipated. Aren't these sorts of things public record? A bit of detail would truly be nice to see.

Paul, do you know that Chad is in the UK? I know many of us thought that for a while, but my memory was that he denied it, and he also claimed that he was a US citizen looking to make the USIRT.

I agree with Dwayne that the charges must be serious to merit extended jail time, I would guess either a felony, a violent offense, or he has multiple prior convictions, or a federal offense. So while I understand why people might have sympathy, I think it is important to know what he is being convicted of first.

Chad also may be underestimating his difficulty in competing next year. Unless he maxes out and serves his entire sentence, he is likely to be on probation or parole after jail, which you would expect would include conditions like to not leave the country or even the state he is in.

Nope, I don't know that he is in the UK, just making that deduction from earlier posts, could well be off the mark. I do believe that he was a US citizen living in the UK, but perhaps he was back in the USA. I don't even know that his name is Chad Williams, other than believing it because that is what he said it was. if he is in the US then it is surely a matter of public record, I could follow the travails of my nephew due to that fact. But we would need a genuine name to do such a search.

Is there any evidence at all that Chad is a real person? And if he is a real person, is there any evidence at all that he rows? Without rehashing this whole ugly affair, at least everyone agrees DA exists and rows.

My wife, who usually has good judgement about these sorts of things, strongly thinks that this person has just been yanking the collective chain of this board and the UK board.

No evidence he is real, although we were told he was not John Rupp using an alternate identity. The preferred theory may be that he is Sir P from the UK, but I don't really buy that. Pretending that your alternate ID is going to jail is pretty creative though, so not something I would expect or believe either.

Searching for Chad Williams on the web though, without any details, is impossible really, although you do get lots of hits including a porn star, a professional football player, but no obvious criminal charges for a 40 something pending or in the local news. But there is a page for this Chad Williams. Maybe this is my favorite so far. Is that guy big enough to be fast?

Except that it's oh so convenient, after you've spent a year telling everyone how you will clean up at the BIRC and WIRC, not to be able to make either one, because your 'jail sentence" just happens to overlap both dates...

I get sick and tired of people keep thinking that I am something to do, or am even playing the part of Chad Williams, I get emails, PM’s and people coming up to me at competitions asking me if I am Chad.

For the 1000th time, I am not Chad. How many more times do I have to say it!!!?

As everyone knows, I do like a laugh and a joke, but do you all really think I would behave the way Chad has towards Dwayne? Dwayne may have a few questions to answer on the racing front which I think he will put right soon.
I have known Dwayne for a few years and exchanged emails with him on many occasions, I like the bloke. I find it rather insulting that people would think I would turn on him, and attack him in the way Chad has.

Chad, so you have been a naughty boy? Glad to see you are going to take the punishment, as you say, like a man.

From a purely selfish point of view, you have now caused me many more months of finger pointing, the day you show up at BIRC or WIRC is the day you put me in the clear with this lot. :?

I never thought you were Chad, but being the wind up merchant you are, you are starting to convince me.

Sorry Sir P, but I think you should be able to say it at least 2000 times. (Denial With Breaks)
