Curious why this bothers you so much? If people want to inflate their "mileage" let them at it. If you know that you're doing as many km on the erg as you can and you're satisfied with that, then what does it matter if other people are doing more and whether it's real or not? Seems a bit trivial to get bothered by it.
I think anything that encourages people to erg and upload their results is good, even if it gets abused by some. If you made it so everyone had to verify each of their erg workouts that would discourage a lot of people from being active on the logbooks, which I think would be a shame.

I was only suggesting it for 5 or so ppl who might like to appear on a new 40k/day avg. honor board
I would have thought that the credibilty associated with it made all the hard work even more rewarding

Which is exactly the point.phlukke wrote:I was only suggesting it for 5 or so ppl who might like to appear on a new 40k/day avg. honor board

Those that "Don't care" are either cheats or have never done a Challange to the point of total exhaustion. Sorry but there is no difference in the feeling that someone gets between getting ripped of placing at the Olympics and the Concept 2 rowing Challange. Don't for a second think that people don't cheat because there are no financial rewards here, it's much more about peoples Ego's and coming 1st that matters.
Running a decent honours board or even a separate honours board for those that want to row verified meters is the way to go, like I said it will be a small group in the same way that thoose on the rankings board bother to IND_V or RowFile their rows. I don't see why those who don't verify their rows would get upset about those that want to take the effort to verify every metre ? umless they are cheats that is.

I'm hoping that when Digital Rowing finally get the Mac version of RowPro out that they can implement my sugestion over two years ago of an annual rankings for the most metres rowed online only.
This automatically puts you down as a verified row and you can also see the actual rows in the results with pace and time etc. They are already adding up everyones total metres online so its just a bit more work to created an honours board linked to their website and this will obviously encorage more pople to row online, even if its by themselves so the metres count. The benefits are obvious, more people online to train with at any time of the day or night.

To me the low vote turnout tells the whole story. Only 13 voted. Over half of those who did vote indicated that they were not concerned with the matter. I'd say that it is a dead issue.phlukke wrote:pls vote if visiting. thanks

There really is not enough people on this forum to get a decent sample.phlukke wrote:hardly surprising given only 50 ppl on the first page.
You find most people are doing their own thing on the rower and its not a very connected community unless you move to something like RowPro and even then its bizzare how many people buy the software and then still don't use it to row online. Perhaps it's as low as 20% of those with a licence use it to row online and its the only reason I bought it. I'm resigned to the fact I have a totally different opinion to the majority of those with a rower but fortunately as the number of people with a licence increases, even that small percentage is becoming a large enough group of like minded people to enable you to find others to row with online.
Its pretty obvious to anyone however that as the technology improves the number of people being able to row online will just explode. An App you can use on your phone at the Gyms will open up all those users who currently do not own their own machine to row online and at this point it will go ballistic.

Re: POLL - Should Challenge/Honor Board leaders verify milea
thanks once again carl.
U r probably right about apps. Once the transfer of data between phone and exercise machine becomes seemless it will as u say.....go ballistic.
for now tho' i dont see myself committing to the honor board or any other challenges. its a shame

If you just enter the Challenge with you usual metres you row then its not an issue but then again its not really a Challenge either but you don't care. If you suddenly tripple or quadrupple your metres then it becomes very difficult and you get a whole different attitude.phlukke wrote:thanks once again carl.

That's the solution, C2 have calculated your avg/day elapsed and your avg/day rowed.
They could use those two numbers to sanitise the input and flag out-of-band numbers.
