UPDATE on organization of
INDOOR ROW for MS - FUNDRAISING CHALLENGE

Updated Challenge: To hold an Indoor Row for MS fundraising challenge as part of the Welland Rose Festival, Family Day Weekend Sports Zone on June 14, 2008 in Welland, Ontario, Canada. Request sponsors to pledge money for metres rowed on a Concept2 indoor rower. Idea is to challenge festival attendees to keep the 'erg in motion for MS' during the entire 8 hour event to make the pledge donations grow. Progress: Welland Rose Festival has shown interest in adding the event to the Family Day Weekend activities, but do not have indoor rowing equipment.

Still Require:
· loan of a Concept2 indoor rower - required to proceed
· at least 4 sponsors to pledge challenge money per metre rowed eg. $0.01/m; $100.00/25,000km; bonus amt. if 100,000km rowed
· sponsor to supply water to participants
· at least 24 volunteers to work in shifts of 3 to cover 8 hours
· various MS literature from the local MS Society for display and handouts

Also Hope For:
· sponsor to donate printed fundraiser T-shirts to sell at event
· sponsor to donate stickers or buttons to participants who row to keep the 'erg in motion for MS'
· sponsor to donate a few door prizes

A local high school rowing team have offered the use of their ergs and support for the challenge.

Thank you so much Janice. I will be co-ordinating with the local MS Society regarding the most effective way to proceed with sponsorship. I will post more information as soon as it's available.

I am very excited that the challenge will be proceeding. The local high school rowing coach is also forwarding the challenge information to the area adaptive rowing organization, so there may be a possibility of having an adaptive erg for the challenge as well!

On a personal note. Creativity and goals to strive for, are what have been keeping me going during this past few months after learning my MS is now Progressive. So, my heartfelt thanks for the kindness and support of my fellow Eh! Team members and the online rowing community here on the Concept2 websites and forums.

Everything is going well in the planning of the Indoor Row for MS as part of the Annual Welland Rose Festival, Family Day Weekend.

Event: Indoor Row for MS
Date: Saturday, June 14, 2008
Time: Tentatively scheduled for 10 a.m. - 6 p.m.
Location: Welland Arena, 501 King St., Welland, Ontario, Canada

Request sponsors to pledge money for metres rowed on a Concept2 indoor rower (known as an erg). The idea is to challenge festival attendees to participate by rowing a few metres to keep the 'erg in motion for MS' during the entire 8 hour event to make the pledge donations grow.

The local MS Society - Niagara Peninsula Chapter of Hope will be including information on how to donate for the event on their website. I'll post the link in my next update.

Unfortunately due to inability to obtain 3rd party insurance, the Indoor Row for MS event cannot proceed. No pledges or donations were received or accepted and the hope is that maybe next year the 'MS Society' will actually put the event on themselves enabling their insurance to cover it. Thanks for all the support.
