Believe it or not, some people would be be able to find fault with watching an 11 year old rerun (I know that my wife would). Too bad you missed the game. It was exciting right to the end (even if my favorite team ended up on the losing side.

Had the following reply from C2.com
"Brian,
Thank you for your valued feedback.
We will be looking into this matter as a result of your mail.
Kind regards,
Mark"
Fingers crossed!

why in the world would C2 use a different hoster for the USA and UK sites?

So that the HOP count is lower and TCP/IP response time is kept slick. The two strings with four tin cans between Rightpondia and Leftpondia have a finite capacity. By having the UK site hosted in the UK you don't suffer the delays in crossing that link.

I think the main reason is that they're two separate entities (C2 US and UK, that is, I guess you already know that the UK and US aren't the same thing!)

But it's hosted in Gloucester, AFAIK, so surely the extra tin can-to-goat hop adds back response time?!

Hang-on, goats!, Gloucester isn't in Wales, it's just frequently submerged (when the strings get wet they expand and the 1's and 0's fall off). You need two strings and four cans to get full-duplex. Sometimes I think we'd get a faster, more reliable TCP/IP connection if the forum used RFC 1149 as the primary interface to the Internet. [At least it's not based in Iran which has been off the Internet all week after the fibre optics in the Mediterranean got severed.]

Perhaps we were being too impatient. Maybe it has to have breakfast before we can log on.

it's as good a reason as any I've heard.
Committee meetings with pancakes eh? nice, wish ours would do that.
