I am doing my first marathon this weekend!! Have done 40km a few times but saving the extra 2.195k's for the big event - doing at the surf lifesaving club at the beach in sydney - for the local childrens hospital!
Great! Did you organise that yourself or is it part of a larger planned event? Hopefully the air conditioning is working on the weekend.

Due to poor timimg I hadn't done more than a HM before my FM...which was silly.

I've only been to Sydney in your winter, but still we ate outside on the "Rocks" (??).

I organised it - jus a solo effort, opportunity to raise a bit of money and also motivate me to keep on going.

I am rowing outside - under shade, it's been a cool summer here but I am hoping for a reasonable day as we hope to pull in some doinations form the beach visitors.

I am quite comfortable with the distance having done 40 km a few times before, the onjly real concern is the beer intake of the guys watching - as the club bar opens during the row..
