It's my birthday...so I bought a C2

Post by icomefrombirmingham » August 23rd, 2007, 3:10 pm

I went to look at a C2 Model D with PM3 last night here in Niagara Falls.
It is in excellent shape. Sounds great. Feels great. Quieter than the Model C I row on at the Y. Hardly used, not a scratch on it...just some dust!
So I went back at lunch time today and made it a birthday present to myself.
I paid $850 (Canadian $s) which is a little under $810 US$...but that "includes" taxes and shipping...i.e. I didn't have to pay them.
I think I got a great deal.
The strengthening kit is already on its way from C2 Customer Service...although no cracking is remotely evident.

So now I look forward to increasing my metres substantially, getting involved in my team here, getting a HR monitor, having completely calloused hands and one day, one day.....when my shorter distance times are cut in half.......racing on RowPro with Gerhard!!! :D

Brent

You'll not regret it Brent and sounds like a great deal. Having your own machine has to make this easier. No driving somewhere else, especially in the winter, for you workout. You should add your driving time to your workout time and see how much more you do!

Good idea Dave!
I'll have my 1,000,000m T-shirt in no time!!!

What it will allow me to do is to try some of the shorter distance team stuff on what would have been "off" days for me. Once I got to the Y, even if I was thinking of doing that month's challenge, I would decide to just row for an hour instead....since the primary goal is to lose weight at this point. Now I don't need to sacrifice the long rows to try the other stuff.

Hey Dave,
What does "Low Pull" mean on Image Maker"?

LP is Low Pull.
I believe you crank up the drag to higher than you would normally have it, then pull as hard as you can for maybe 10 strokes like at the start of a sprint. At some point in this 10 strokes, usually 4th or 5th stroke, your /500m split should be its lowest, hence Low Pull. Stroke rate would probably be well in excess of 40 and if done wrong will likely do your back no good at all.
Never done it, probably never will, although I did try some 100m sprints a while ago but was never below 1:22/500m. I've seen some as low as 1:04

Hmmm....I don't think I'll try that any time soon either.
Some of those sprint times are sickening.
We get to do one evening of 500m sprints on the water this session...that could be worth an entry in America's Funniest Home Videos!

Congrats on the "new" Concept 2! You will love having it at home.

Looks like I'll have to work to stay ahead of you in the team standings now :) (and me with a head start!)

Thanks!
I hope to do some of the team stuff now. However, the events I've seen so far are too short distances for me to be competitive.

Your longer distances are already out of my league, so why wait? Most online workouts are 30 minutes or higher. See you soon.

OK, I'll try to download RowPro this week and get started. We have our first OTW race on Thursday too!
