OK....now what's the Global Marathon Challenge? I am going to do my first 2 hour piece at the weekend, so I hope I'll be ready for a FM by the fall.

The football was excellent. Villa won 4-2 and it was a decent game. I wore my Villa golf shirt and wasn't mugged on my way back to the car! Quite different to going to an away game in England where police escorts are provided to ensure safe passage of visiting supporters to the city limits!

short distances rock!!!

Post by timmyj » July 28th, 2007, 7:56 am

I prefer the shorter rows: 100m, 500m, 4 min., and 2000m are my favorite. The reason is that I compete in jiu jitsu and submission grappling and these transfer over better as most matches/rounds are 4-6 minutes. Rowing seems to transfer better to my chosen sport than running with a much lower rate of injury for me.

As far as the butt going numb on longer distances (which I do from time to time) I just went to the sporting good store and purchased a pad that they sell to football fans to put on the bleacher seats and it workds quite well,,,before that I was just putting two big sponges down on the sear and that worked well also.

timmy,
Thanks for that. I had wondered about paddibg the seat, but had assumed the pads would just slip.

So you will just have to catch it when it rolls around in 2008. :D

I started with my very own Model D on June 11th. Thought that the wife was going to blow a gasket when I told her what it cost. She's singing another tune now (her original was "That damn thing will just sit around collecting dust!"). 325,000+ meters and still trying to get in at least 5000 meters a day (although yesterday I did more than 20000).

Oh yeah, and I've lost more than 10 pounds too B)

Hmm, I wonder if your wife and mine are related?...still, I figure if I quit the "Y" at $70 per month and buy my own C2, it will pay for itself in 12 months or so,,,and by then, at this rate, I'll only weigh 12lbs!
