new feature just for fun

Post by c2bill » May 10th, 2007, 5:52 pm

there is now a nearly live meter counter that exists on the main page of the forum - i like watching the meters go up during the day.

My next project is to take this basic concept and build modules that can report on the top university/team standings along with their meter totals, maybe 'rower of the minute' as opposed to rower of the day etc...

If my profile says I'm from Europe can you rewrite the text with a bit of Java script to have "metre" rather than your American way of spelling "meter".

Bill,
Cool! I like it..

Would it be possible to modify the algorithm a bit so that it ticked up by 1m increments? As opposed to just adding the total on as they come in, perhaps keep a running total of what hasnt displayed yet (pending meters rowed), and tick it faster when there is more pending...

just a thought

This seems like a really neat idea, but I can't see it. :( Here's a picture of what I see:

The meters are covered up by the blue banner. I'm using Mozilla Firefox.

I see the "Season Total: 153,553,438M", but there is something under that that I can't see.
Using Firefox 2.0, perhaps Firefox 1.5 is different.

The covered text in Firefox is the latest logbook entry and listing of the top 3 teams. Couldn't read the teams but latest entry can be selected and pasted elsewhere with some creative clicking & dragging.

Now I can see the meters, but the next line ( Last Entry: Kees V. NLD 1000M ) is mostly covered.

I just check IE, and I'm getting the same result there.

Keep up the good work - I know how hard it is to get those browsers to cooperate.
