Invincible IPOD

Post by dutchcan » April 23rd, 2006, 9:22 am

..taking my gym gear out of the washer, when shock of all shocks, out came my Ipod Shuffle with it. After I recovered (although it was the cheapest Ipod I could find, it was still my erging 'buddy'), I dried the poor thing off, blew out as much water as I could, and lay it down in the hopes that it would recover in a few days. Guess what. IT DID! The only problem is the battery...I have to rejuvenate it every day, but other than that, it works like before! I'm not necessarily an Ipod junkie, but I'm certainly impressed with how it stood up to being submerged in water for an hour, not to mention the rinse and spin cycles. Just thought I'd share this tidbit of information in case anyone else accidentally gives their mp3 a bath.

well technically speaking there is nothing wrong with putting electronics in water.. or even soaps.

but the issue is that if there is a current running through the electronics then the circuits will burn and bye bye computer.

alot of people put computer parts which are clogged with dust in the dishwasher without anything else and without soap.

perhaps if your lithium ion battery was better charged your shuffle would be toast.

yeah i can imagine that the battery is finished after that ordeal. Im not sure about shuffles but i know replacing normal ipod batteries is a pain aswell as expensive

They're not entirely invincible. I used to just shove mine down the back of my rowing trou until the sweat (or maybe the rancid odor) killed it stone dead. Luckily, it was still within warranty, so I got a free replacement -- which I now hang down my back on a lanyard while erging. Live and learn.

I love my Pod

I had a 200 Gb, but during washing it shrank to a shuffle!

I still love her!!
