Hi
Actually, my gym allowed me to borrow a rowing machine, and now I want to calculate the effort numbers (i.e., the pain) I put into the rowing machine while I had it.
Is there a way to download this data into Excel or something like that so I can analyze the days that would just be me?
I only use it in isolation, so all the data since I borrowed it is all me... all me... always just me... yes, just me... in the garage... rowing.

This was the only option we used to have https://github.com/DougieLawson/PMI, I don't know whether it still works (and can't test it right now).
That gives you a VBA process that gets data from the C2 PMI interface. That's available inside Excel (or it was eight years ago).

Data from PAST rows is limited. You can get summary data for each rowing workout, but you can't get per stroke data because the PM5 does not store it. To export the summary data for past rows use the C2 Utility. https://www.concept2.com/support/software/utility This gives you the same data available in the history function in the PM5. You'll need to create a Concept2 LOG. Free, details on their website. C2 Utility puts your data in your C2 log. Then you can export the summary data from the log in one block as CSV and import it into Excel. The export button is on the "History" page of your log and covers the season https://log.concept2.com/history (URL is valid after you create your log) CSV import into Excel is really painless.nix78 wrote: ↑March 13th, 2025, 6:55 am...my gym allowed me to borrow a rowing machine, and now I want to calculate the effort numbers (i.e., the pain) I put into the rowing machine while I had it.

For FUTURE rows, even at the Gym:
One time setup: Install Ergdata on your phone. Free app from concept2 to record your rowing data. Create a Concept2 LOG. Free, details on their website. Link Ergdata to your C2 log so that Ergdata uploads each row to your C2 Log. https://www.concept2.com/ergdata
For each row connect your phone running Ergdata to the Erg. It takes about 30 seconds (launch ergdata, press connect button on Erg, select the erg you're using from menu on Ergdata, you are connected). Do remember to disconnect ergdata from the erg when you are done so the next person rowing doesn't end up on your log. Ergdata stays connected when a piece ends so that you can move onto your next piece without reconnecting, but this does creat problems when you finish, walk away but your phone is still in bluetooth range.
After your row you can look at your data on the C2 log. To export it to Excel from the C2 log goto the details page that shows your row (the page with the graphs of splits and strokes per minute). In the lower right corner of this page is a section called "Download Stroke Data". If you download the data as CSV you can directly input it into Excel (or OpenOffice or any other spreadsheet). Other than the initial setup, it takes 5 clicks to have a row open in Excel ready to process. Every stroke you take (including rest strokes between intervals) gets a row in the table. If you only want summary data then you can use the CSV download from the season history page discussed above.
If you connect a Heart rate monitor to your PM5 while you row then Ergdata will also record HR data every stroke and HR will show up in your log and be downloaded into your spreadsheet.
One benefit of using the c2 log is that C2 will send you a nice shirt at 1 million meters rowed even if you don't own a C2 erg. They even pay postage. The C2 log is also a good spot to look for things like "show me my rows greater than 10km" or "show me rows with splits between 1:45 and 2:00".
Re: Tracking Effort with Concept2 Rowing Machine in Excel
Probably, but likely to be a bit tortuous. Tsnor has covered the ground....but assumes you have a PM5. Since you're here we have to assume that you borrowed a Concept2 rowerg and not another make. All the Performance Monitors that C2 rowers have come with are numbered. Cable connectivity started with the PM2+ and carried on to the PM3 and PM4. The PM5 has more options (but several versions). For the last few years, most of us with PM5s have used an App on our phone (Ergdata is one but there are others) to automatically link with the PM5 and upload results to our online logs as Tsnor advises. If you've got an earlier PM and have not used any phone app then its much the same routine just less data.
So you'll need to create an online log with C2 (See here [url]https://www.concept2.com/community/onli ... 9Bhh9k-Sc9). You can then upload from the PM to your online log ... and then download a CSV file from your online log to your laptop and import into Excel if you feel you need to.
To do the upload you'll need the Concept2 Utility software.
Once in your log, you can download the whole history....or just the pieces you're interested in. When you look at a specific session, you get some download options in the bottom right corner. eg
