After 2 wireless headphones ruined…
Hey! I sweat a lot and it’s been 2 headphones I ruined, i guess because of sweat. My 1rst one was a BEATS wireless headphones, it lasted for years but recently i sweated a lot with summer and it didn’t support it.
So i bought BOSE ones. It lasted literally 1 month before it stopped to work Again for same reason i guess.
At a moment of the exercise, my hear is a little bit filled with sweat and so i guess it’s at this time my headphones get ruined.
What could you on your own experience advice me?
- good sound
- wireless
- water (really) resistant
Ty a lot

Look for an IPX7 or an IPX8 rating on any earbuds/headset you get for rowing.
I use and like these. "Mpow Flame S aptX-HD Sport Wireless Earphones" $15 US to $30 US depending on sale price.
These work also, but do not sound quite as good. "SENSO Bluetooth Wireless Headphones, Best Sports Earphones w/Mic IPX7 Waterproof HD Stereo Sweatproof Earbuds for Gym Running Workout 8 Hour Battery Noise Cancelling Headsets Cordless Heapdhone - Blue" $20 US.
You just need to find the style you like -- the hook over the ear works well for me. Some people prefer the hook in ear, or "true wireless" with no cable between them, or earbuds that stay in your ear with friction. I like the cable, it keeps the ear pieces together. You can also use bone conduction headphones, but you'll lose the passive sound deadening of "in the ear" headphones (which is nice rowing - less whoooosh).
(I also use and like good headphones, but would not wear them rowing or hiking or on the stationary bike, or even walking on a warm day)
ASIDE: Send a note to Bose and Beats. Both have good customer service. Doubtless they will send you a replacement set if you got the headphones recently. Just don't use the replacements rowing.

I had air bud lookalikes but the sweat reduced the friction so they would fall out after a while.
I switched to the Mpow Flame Sports and they are great. Well the soft bit disintegrated after about a year but you can easily get replacements.

Re: After 2 wireless headphones ruined…
I HAVE to have active noise cancelling devices due to my poor hearing and continuing loss of hearing. I have older wired ANC headphones (Ableplanet Linx Audio), and recently got wireless earbuds (JLAB JBUDSAIR ANC).
I used the headphones for travel on airplanes as well so didn't want to ruin them with sweat so I just put plastic bags over the earmuffs to keep the sweat out of them. My hearing loss is such that any fidelity lost through the thin plastic is not noticeable. I wipe down the plastic bags after the row, and the earmuffs stay dry.
The ear buds are great, once I figured out how to insert them so that they sealed properly and the active noise cancelling was effective. I use them now. Haven't had a problem with them falling out or slipping.

I use Soundcore life p2, IPX 7, from time to time when I row early in the morning and don't want the music of the speakers to wake up someone.
Sound is good, fitting perfectly into my ears. Battery runtime very good, 6-7h fully charged.
Sweat was no problem yet, but only used them for 3-4 steady state sessions.

Jaybird Vista's if you can find them are great and have little ear catches to keep them in place. They have been superseded by the Vista II's which has noise cancelling but the originals are better imo. Had mine for 3yrs and not had an issue and still work as new. You might get some on Ebay pretty cheap.

Re: After 2 wireless headphones ruined…
After complaints from the neighbours about my music on the stereo when rowing, I started using headphones. The in-ear type, or buds, just don't work for me, they never stay in. Over-ear phones are too bulky and hot. The conduction type that clips near to the ear lets in too much noise from the erg. So I ended up with cheap JVC on-ear phones, with cushioned pads that sit on the ear.
I too sweat profusely and just accept that headphones are not going to last very long. For the purposes of erging cheap ones are good enough. It's not as if I'm appreciating the finer points of hi-fi performance while cranking out a bunch of 1500m intervals. Just yesterday I had to apply another piece of sticking plaster to the padding when it rotted through due to sweat. I'll have to replace these phones soon.

My neighbors just have to suck it up.
I have a 2.1 audio system with a subwoofer connected to the PC with a few different play lists.
But seriously I'm usually rowing before they all get home from work anyway so its all good. Double glazing on the houses and neighbors are far enough away.

Re: After 2 wireless headphones ruined…
Me neither. So I use this type with a hook over the ear. Never falls out. Many different brands make them. Current favorite is MPOW FLAME S. MPOW got kicked off amazon for false reviews so they ended up with a lot of these... you can find them cheap. The "S" version has the better qualcom apt-X HD asic and slightly larger driver.Rowan McSheen wrote: ↑September 5th, 2022, 5:00 amThe in-ear type, or buds, just don't work for me, they never stay in.

I love my Boltune earbuds, but they've probably had a similar issue was Mpow as they're not called that anymore for some reason.
My point is, don't be fooled into thinking that you need to spend a fortune. Mine are £15-20 depending on deals, but they are fantastic, and I've ruined a lot of expensive pairs over the years.

I wear cheap ($CA60) noise-cancelling headphones. The same ones I use on the plane. Haven't had a problem yet. The noise canceling lets me carry on a conversation or record a video while rowing. All you hear is a bit of chain swish. Fan noise disappears altogether.

I have been using Skullcandy push active true wireless earbuds for a couple of months. Been through sweat and some rain showers no issue. Claim to be water resistant and they sound good for the money. Oh and voice activated controls so I can skip tracks etc while keeping both hands on the bar. I recommend.
