Dangerscouse
Re: Dangerscouse
My old dad gave me a recorder for my 50th birthday, the basics of music come from a recorder he said that he'd teach me how to play the oboe I so desperately wanted to play, if I could learn a piece of music for the recorder. I never did, but I got my oboe which I use as an ornament, after I threatened to learn the bagpipes

Re: Dangerscouse
I'm absolutely addicted to matt Berry and his acid jazz, really lovely to listen too post electronica era.
And I find myself walking around the house, cooking and housework, listening and dancing to souxsie and the banshees, more often than not...
Happy House and dear prudence running around my head at the moment, as most played.
I'm a sixty year old punk

Re: Dangerscouse
Dear Prudence is a great track, and I love Peek-a-Boo.
I tried to buy the Blur '13' album, second hand, and they sent me Cliff Richard 'Always Guaranteed'. I'm very eclectic in my music, but I'm really struggling with this one

cia tactics, include playing 'devil woman' very loudly
"devil woman"
, just brings to mind the young ones,

I couldn't do cliff Richard, or "Do" him is he still alive, my mum was a rolling stones fan, and my dad was into the doors, he played bass guitar in a 60s tribute band back in the 80s, for payed work he was in the progressive section of the Royal military academy band, and is now in the band at Chelsea Royal hospital as a pensioner. He can play all the doors and stones back catalogue from memory, not quite what you'd expect from a Chelsea pensioner eh .
I can highly recommend as my album of the day 'Spellbound' by siouxsie and the banshees

Step daughter is off to see the kid laroi tonight or squidly didly as I call him, because he sounds the same as any other cartoon at the moment. She says every song sounds different, I fail to see that difference .
And she readily admits that one of the cartoons died recently, and he sounds just like him....
Exactly, I rest my case your honour.
"i'd queue up in this heat to see Freddie Mercury" "when is he playing" she says...
Oh well time moves on.

Re: Dangerscouse
Never heard of Kid Laroi. Funnily enough, we were all talking about who we would love to see playing live, dead or alive, and we all agreed on Queen in the mid 70s. They don't make them like Freddie anymore.Holly62 wrote: βJuly 17th, 2022, 7:23 amStep daughter is off to see the kid laroi tonight or squidly didly as I call him, because he sounds the same as any other cartoon at the moment. Yes I would have loved to go to one of his mad parties, his sense of cabaret was outstanding, "shake the freak tree, see who falls off darling and invite them".
I call all my friends darling because of Freddie and would loved to have met him, what a star eh.

Re: Dangerscouse
Well because of the heat, I havnt rowed much, did a steady 24min 5k this morning, took time out to update the firm ware on the concept 2, not sure about the update yet, I'm sure I'll get used to it.
Primal scream were really good, banging headache because of the heat, heavy on the non alcoholic fluids, I'm not 25 any more .
Over the last couple of weeks I've been mostly listening to my 9 album collection of souxsie and the banshees, listened to in isolation and away from the post punk scene, its outstandingly clever unique music in an age where literally everyone sounds the same.
I watched the suicide squad last week, and it seems like this generation is franticly searching their back catalogues for the bit of unique music, that we took for granted.
Ooh I've just noticed I've taken a minute off my 5k time

Re: Dangerscouse
First of all, well done on the 5k!!
I've never properly given Siouxsie much attention, so I probably need to change that. Have you heard The Cure 'Mixed Up'? It's their old tunes given a bit of a dance treatment, similar to Screamadelica type of dance. It's about 20 years old now, so you'll get it secondhand for hardly anything I'd guess. I love The Cure, and this is a great album too.
Good to hear Primal Scream were great, and I'm not surprised. I saw yesterday that I missed The Wonder Stuff playing about six weeks ago, which is gutting, as I loved singing my heart out in the mosh pit when I last saw them about 12 years ago.

Yes I love the cure too, there are well documented links between the two, sharing band members during a tour after two of the banshees walked out, but you know that.
I'm really savouring my souxsie and the banshees collection because after Bowie, they were my next step, before The Cure and dance music in the 90s, The Cure was punk you could dance to....

Re: Dangerscouse
I didn't know that, and I love a bit of music trivia. Did you know that Suzanne Vega 'Tom's Diner' acapella was the first song ever played on mp3?Holly62 wrote: βAugust 1st, 2022, 4:22 amYes I love the cure too, there are well documented links between the two, sharing band members during a tour after two of the banshees walked out, but you know that.

I've never thought of The Cure as punk, but I suppose they were, if on the more acceptable side of punk

Ohhh thank you for the tip, the cure mixed up, acquired for a fiver, not in my collection, soon to be
No I didn't know that either, first ever mp3... I thought it would be something classical for some unknown reason

The Best Of Joy Division & Total: From Joy Division To New Order https://amzn.eu/d/5kiTi8r
A really interesting transformation from dark to light, after the loss of Ian Curtis, worth a listen.
iFi hip-dac2 - Portable Balanced DAC Headphone Amplifier for Android, iPhone with USB Input Only/Outputs: 3.5mm Unbalanced / 4.4mm Balanced β MQA Decoder https://amzn.eu/d/idGP0a0
And the hip dac 2, really puts the A105 walkman in the rich man's league, on pensioners money, five star recommendation from me.
Just listen to your best rain track, riders on the storm or equinox, I swear I could hear individual raindrops.
Anyway what are you listening to at the moment.

Re: Dangerscouse
The cure mixed, I lined the album up, original then remix one track at a time, bookmarking is a doddle on the Walkman.
Some tracks, sound amateur, but three tracks are awesome. I worked in Trinidad for a few years in the 90s, and I swear it's almost a reggae back beat he's got going on there, well chilled and well mixed overall.
