June Heptathlon Challenge
Hello Folks
This might seem a dumb question, but I received an email from concept 2 about kickstarting June with a 7 day challenge.....all events need to be done between June 1-7 and in same type of ergo etc....but what do the events actually mean?
The Events
RowErg and SkiErg BikeErg
Event #1 1000 meters* 2000 meters
Event #2 1 minute* 1 minute*
Event #3 10,000 meters* 20,000 meters
Event #4 20 minutes 20 minutes
Event #5 1609 meters (1 mile) 4000 meters*
Event #6 10 minutes 10 minutes
Event #7 6000 meters* 10,000 meters
So for example take Event 2 - 1 minute
Does this actually mean just set monitor for a 1 minute row from Just Row menu?

Thanks for your reply but it's still unclear to me. Yes, I know how to setup each of the Day 1-7 workouts.....my question is am I understanding them right....specifically the Event 2. I read it as I just need to row for 1 minute. That doesn't seem likely, that's all......
So - can I ask again - the workout under "Event 2" - what does it require me to do?

The links he posted tell how to set up workouts in the PM5. For event #2, you would set the monitor for "Single Time" (read the links to figure out how to get to that point), set in 1:00, hit the button by the checkmark, then start rowing. The monitor counts down to zero. When it hits zero, it tells you how many meters you went. That is the number you'd enter in your log under distance.
All of the events are single distance or time, not intervals.
Read those links to figure out how to do intervals of all types, standard and custom workouts, etc. You'll get the hang of it quickly. Have fun with the challenge, it's a tough one.

Howdy. People train in different ways on the concept2 devices. The 1 minute is one of the classic sprints. So, this is getting everyone a taste of doing longer rows and sprints.I read it as I just need to row for 1 minute. That doesn't seem likely, that's all......
So - can I ask again - the workout under "Event 2" - what does it require me to do?
Sure, you could coast that minute and get a win. But, it's a challenge, so most will go for broke and see how far they can get in a minute. And FWIW, those sprints kill be for days.

i'm doing this challenge. I managed 300m on the 1 minute (I think I had some left in the tank but I'm new to sprinting) but the got a PB on the 10K yesterday (40:30). That 10k has wiped me out so I'll treat the 20 min today as a recovery row

I've really enjoyed this challenge. I've done two of the prescribed workouts over each of the past three days and am giving myself a rest day today. I'll finish up with the 10K (I really feel like a new PB is in store for me) tomorrow or Saturday.
I think one of the best things about this challenge is the variety - it helps people figure out what they're good at. I decided to rank the workouts that are eligible for that, and found that among the events I've done so far, I'm highest up on the board (in terms of percentile) in the 1000-meter row. That surprised me because while I've never been a great sprinter, I figured in rowing, I'd be better at middle-distance ranges from the 2K to the 10K. That's how it played out for me as a swimmer; my best events always were the 200-yard and 500-yard freestyle.
I think one of the best things about this challenge is the variety - it helps people figure out what they're good at. I think the 1k is pretty much a middle distance event jon and matches up well with the 200/500 demands in the pool - the 4' (which is rankable) would probably suit you too. I have to admit a tiny bit of embarrassment to ask, but what the heck: Anybody know how to find the challenge “goodies” C2 says are available through a third-party fulfillment vendor? Do they email a link to challenge finishers? I can’t find any information on this.
