Hit my million!

Post by Zuman » January 30th, 2020, 11:41 pm

Ok, I know this is pretty lame, but I hit my first million meters yesterday, and I'm stupidly happy about it. I'm 67, and I started indoor rowing almost exactly six months ago.
I've enjoyed discovering how I respond to different mixes of intervals and varying lengths of steady-state rowing. Also, I was pretty motivated by the Holiday Challenge, when I reached my 200,000 meter goal between Thanksgiving and Christmas Eve.
I retired two weeks ago, so I'm now looking to kick things up another notch. I'm doing around 2:30 average per 500m split during a spirited 60 minute row, but I know I can do better.
Forgive me for being so self-congratulatory, but my wife doesn't really get it so I had to tell someone!

Congratulations!
I’m new to rowing also and my family and friends don’t get it either. I was happy recently when I just hit 100,000 after 2 months

First of all congratulations, secondly there is nothing lame about that. Don't forget the vast majority of people will never do more than a few thousand metres if any at all.

Congrats! I've only been rowing for about 7 months now, myself, and hope to hit a 1 million meter season by the time the season ends. Anytime I have a real good row, my wife doesn't care, just asks "Are you ok?" so I share your pain.
Started rowing 4/22/19.
PBs: 1min - 314m, 500m - 1:40.0, 1,000m - 3:45.3, 4min - 1,082m, 2,000m - 7:41.0, 5.000m - 21:18.2, 6,000m - 25:41.6, 30min - 7,010m, 10k - 44:40.5, 60min - 13,112m

1 Mm is a big deal, and you should be happy about it.

Well done... big milestone that seems a long way off when you start. 6 months is very good going as was the 200k holiday challenge. Remember to go to challenges page and download your certificate plus claim free t shirt and pin!

Thanks, All.
Another thing I've noticed is far less snarkiness among people here than in many other sport-related forums, and a genuine sense that C2 is a "good" company that genuinely cares about its customers and community.

That is really good to hear. We are a very supportive bunch as it's quite an esoteric hobby / sport so we all know what we are going through and what we have to endure to make any progress.

I can't fault C2: they make an exceptionally good product and have great customer service.

Congrats! You've been more consistent than me. I purchased my rower in the 2015-2016 season, and only got my million meter mark on 1/21/20.

My fiance thinks the rowing machine is a torture device when she uses it, and definitely doesn't get the excitement of the accomplishments as well as the folks here do.

Excited to aim for the 5MM mark in less time than my 1MM. Took some time to work the C2 into my life routine, but it's there now.

Congrats on your milestone!! It does show your dedication and great effort. I still wear my 1 million meter t-shirt with pride even now as I approach the 4 million meter mark.

Congratulations! I don't think it's lame at all, it's something I'm looking forward to, having recently hit 200K lifetime meters.

My husband totally doesn't get it! That's OK though, I don't get his addiction to sitting in front of the TV watching sports or in front of his computer watching YouTube videos. As long as he doesn't mind my rower in our living room.

Superb result, well done.

I got my machine 2 years ago and also love it. My problem is that I work away from home for much of my life, more than half. I have resolved the problem though, I have bought a second machine for where I work. :D

Now I am consistently climbing up the meters so hope to join you in the club before the end of the calendar year.

Wow! I've have been rowing on mine for 2 years and I haven't hit the million meter mark yet, getting very close but 2 month & 7 months time. Thats awesome. I do have a Yowza Miami elliptical,a Nordictrack Plus skier a Soloflex and a Total gym which is not being used at this time. I like to rotate things up a bit or I will get bored as it's easy to do at my age 64 Lol. Awesome achievements you guys
