What is a good price for a used 2014 C2 Model D?

Post by TxLghrn » December 4th, 2019, 5:37 pm

The 2014 C2 Model D I am looking at has only been used 58 times for 62,000 meters and appears to have minimal wear and tear. Is $750 a good price? Are there any significant differences between the 2014 and 2019 models? I am buying it for my daughter and have limited rowing knowledge. Thanks in advance for any help!

Since a 2019 Model D2 with PM5 is only $900 I think your price for an almost six year old machine with unknown status and an unknown performance monitor is probably overpriced.

You need to knock $50 to $100 off that price. If it's only got a PM3 or PM4 take another $50 off as a new PM5 costs $180.

The 2019 models have the black stealth paintwork (which came out in 2012). There's no difference between a 2014 model and a 2019 model if both have a PM5.

The last major revision of the regular sized static rower design was the D2 in 2006.

The PM5 was new in October 2014 then altered to the V600 hardware in December 2016 (take a look at the Product ID page (Press grey button #5 three times "More Options" then "Utilities" then "Product ID") on the monitor to see what you'd get).

Thank you very much for the reply. It is very helpful.

The one I am looking at has a PM5 and under 5 hours use. I will definitely check out the V600 hardware.

Thanks again!

A new Concept 2 Model D has a five year frame parts warranty and a two year warranty on all other parts. A used rower that's five years old has absolutely no warranty remaining. Because it is backed by a warranty from an extremely reputable manufacturer, I think it will be well worth spending somewhat more for the new rower.

Don't forget that the new machine is $900 plus shipping plus sales tax. So it might be closer to $1000, depending on where you live.

These machines hold their value really well and are built like tanks. If it were me, and especially if I could talk the seller into taking $700, I wouldn't hesitate to buy the slightly used Model D with the PM5 electronics.

In my area, used machines sell very quickly, and never for less than $600. I've seen the newer used machines sell for $800.

Happy Rowing!

To some people, $800 for a used Model D might sound pretty good. However, If I was interested in buying one at that price, I certainly would hire an expert to completely check out its condition. That will add to the cost which would start to approach the $900 price of a brand new one. For that reason alone, I wouldn't even consider spending that much for a used rower, no matter how good it might seem. I would just go for a new one.

I spent a total of $945, including shipping, for a new Model D a couple of years ago. That was my total cost. I live in California and at that time, no state sales tax was added. Considering that I was getting a brand new model of the best rowing machine around and it had full factory warranties, I was perfectly happy with that purchase.
